I rang this number on 9th August and ended up being duped three times, losing a total of £145.27. Is there any advice on how I can retrieve my funds?

I made about five attempts to ring this number, which was supposedly free to call according to Trading Standards - both from mobiles and landlines. However, approximately eleven minutes into my chat with an operator, the call suddenly ended, claiming there was a technical glitch. Naturally, I contacted my mobile provider to check if there was an issue with my device, but they assured me all was well. So, I tried once more, and yet again, the line went dead - this happened a total of five times before I finally threw in the towel. A few days later, my bill arrived, and I was taken aback to see I’d been charged an eye-watering £35 for a mere eleven minutes of conversation! I called my provider again to question this astronomical charge, only to be informed that I’d been dialling a premium rate number, which wasn’t free at all. Their response was that there was nothing they could do, and I’d have to pay it via direct debit. I’m just wondering if there's any way to seek a refund for this unexpected expense? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I rang this number under the impression I was in touch with Trading Standards… ended up with a £99 charge for a pair of 10-minute calls! Now I’m left wondering whether I even dialled the right place! My service provider advised me to reach out to the company for a refund, but the only contact I’ve got is that 090 number. There’s no way I’ll be calling that again. I genuinely feel hoodwinked. Any advice on what I should do next?

I've just noticed a charge of £26.67 from BT for a call we definitely didn’t place! How on earth is this possible?!

I recently attempted to get in touch with trading standards, and the experience left me utterly baffled. Initially, the voicemail reassured me that I wouldn't incur any charges for the call. However, a few minutes into the conversation, the line abruptly cut off, and to my surprise, I later received a bill for £95.10. What on earth is going on? Why would a number like that even be operational when one is seeking assistance from an official body? It’s left me feeling rather distraught and I struggled to get a wink of sleep afterward. If anyone could shed some light on this, I’d be enormously grateful. Cheers in advance!

Blimey, we've only just clocked that we've been hit with a charge of £114 for three calls made to this number. Initially, we suspected it was a dodgy operation related to my son's theory test booking, but it seems that it’s actually the calls we placed to trading standards about the scam concerning the theory test! What a right pickle!

I recently found myself staring at a whopping £45 charge for a mere ten minutes spent on the phone with UK Trading Standards from my mobile. Strangely enough, the number that appeared on my bill was not what I had originally dialled while seeking some guidance. It’s a bit dodgy, really. Just a heads-up for anyone thinking of contacting Trading Standards - they do mention that they're a premium rate service, but it’s rather vague about the actual costs involved. Suffice it to say, it can add up to quite the sum if you’re not careful!
