A person with an Asian accent called, claimed to be from Microsoft but wouldn't give a name. When I asked how they had my number, they said it’s coz I use some windows software. I quizzed them on how they could know that even if I didn’t own a PC, then they just hung up on me.

08712700036 total pain, maybe even dodgy. Sounded like it was a call centre, loads of noise in the background. Spoke with an American accent, said his name was "Alex" when I asked.

I received a rather dodgy call claiming to be from Microsoft. They insisted they were getting error messages from my device, but when I informed them I didn't possess a computer, they seemed rather flustered. After a brief discussion, they abruptly ended the call, leaving me a bit suspicious.

I received a call this morning - the first of its kind in a good while. They launched into their usual routine about supposed issues with Windows. I decided to have a bit of fun and pretended I couldn’t locate the information they were asking me for. After playing along for a bit, I inquired about how to check which version of Windows I supposedly had... They provided the instructions, but I feigned ignorance, claiming I couldn’t find any Windows logo. After about ten minutes of playful banter, I finally revealed that perhaps my dilemma stemmed from the fact that I was using an Apple Mac, which, of course, has no Windows logo. *Click*. They ended the call pretty promptly! :)

Gave me a ring on two occasions today. Quite the bother, if you ask me!

I had a rather dubious call from this number earlier today. The chap on the other end had a pronounced South Asian accent, and honestly, it was quite difficult to catch what he was saying. It felt like I was conversing with someone very far away. I did manage to catch snippets such as 'computer' and 'Microsoft,' but that was pretty much it. It struck me as a classic scam attempt, so I firmly told him I wasn’t interested, then hung up. This was my first encounter with this number, and fingers crossed it’ll be the last, though I’m not overly optimistic. It’s bizarre how these individuals operate, really.

Got a call from this number this morning - first time in ages for something like this. The caller went on about some Windows errors and all that stuff. I played along, pretending I couldn't spot what they wanted me to see. After a bit, I asked how to check which Windows version I had. They explained, but I acted like I couldn't find any Windows logo. Wrapped up about ten mins chatting by saying maybe the issue was because I use an Apple Mac, no sign of Windows there. Then they hung up #Click#. I've added the number to my call blocker now.

I received an extremely aggressive call earlier, and as soon as I hung up, they continued to ring me back, bombarding me with expletives-a total of eight times in quick order. It was quite distressing!

Yet again, a man with an Indian accent pretending to be from Microsoft said my PC was hacked. When I asked for his company details and some proof about the problem, he got really defensive. He kept pushing and started getting quite hostile when I didn’t want to open any programmes on my laptop. I requested his company phone number to check it against the official Microsoft one, and not long after, he rang back asking if I’d complied. Im in the middle of reporting this to Action Fraud right now.

This morning I received a call at precisely 8 o'clock, followed by another at 4:43 in the afternoon. Upon picking up the second call, the line went dead. I’ve got caller ID, though it’s not set up on the phone upstairs, and of course, that’s where I happened to be during both instances. It’s rather tiresome dealing with these persistent callers. Moving forward, I shall be ignoring any calls on my upstairs phone and keeping an eye on my other devices. Perhaps they'll take the hint and leave me be!

Another one of those tech support scammers, I caught on straight away and cut the call off before he could even get through his spiel.

Got a really loud call from some overseas call centre asking for info about my computer. I told the bloke they were ringing a business number and he began shouting, wanting to speak to the owner. I told him since he’s from Microsoft and we’ve got loads of MS licenses, he should already know who that is. Then he just hung up.

They have rung me twice already today, once before 8 in the morning and just a moment ago. I’ve noticed there’s a little delay before they start talking, so on the last call I said they had reached the police fraud line. They just ended the call straightaway.

Got a call from 08712700036 just now, someone asking for access before I cut them off. Sounded familiar, same old story about "show us evidence only we’d know" - classic line. If you want, google "clsid scam". Don’t hand your phone to your nephew unless you really know who you’re dealing with. Any problem they mentioned wouldn’t be sorted like this; should be done through your anti-virus, firewall settings or Windows updates.

Got a few calls over the last couple of days, didn’t answer any. This morning, a bloke called himself Johnathon from Windows. I asked if I’d asked to be contacted. He just said his name again. I asked once more if I’d asked for the call, then he just hung up. Since then, I’ve had some calls from different numbers but didn’t pick up - no voicemail left. Later, when I was out, someone called and left nothing but background noise on my answerphone, maybe trying to mess around.

Some guy called Jonathan from Windows, sounded really Asian or something. I was like, yeah right, a virus on my PC! Was sure these scams got shut down ages ago. Then the call just dropped. Do these scammers never take a break?

Had a few calls in the last couple of days but never got round to answering. This morning, a bloke named Johnathon said he was from Windows when I finally picked up. I asked if I’d actually asked for the call. He just said his name again. I asked once more if I’d requested it, and then he just hung up. Later on, I got calls from different numbers but never picked up or got any voicemail. Then while I was out, someone rang and just left a load of background noise on the answerphone, maybe trying to fill the tape or something.

Some bloke called Johnathon rang me and when I told him to jog on and ended the call, he rang right back and started being really rude. After a bit of a row, he told me to shut it and said he could hack into my computer whether I said yes or not. I told him again to leave me alone and hung up. He tried ringing a few more times but since I saw his number, I just ignored it. Elderly folk on their own won’t have a hope against these types, I keep checking my PC just to be safe, something seriously needs to be done about them.

I received a rather dodgy call from an individual named "Oscar," who appeared to be of Asian descent, attempting to pull off a scam related to some Windows issues on my computer. When I playfully announced that I was Detective Wilson from the I.T. Fraud Team at Scotland Yard and that his number was being traced, he practically scrambled to end the call! Quite comical, really!

Got a call from an Asian guy saying he wanted to fix problems on my Windows PC. Claimed he was watching and noticed security faults. Funny, considering my computer's not even on. Seriously, Ofcom needs to step in and put a stop to these dodgy calls.

If you've already signed up with TPS, make sure to report any scam calls to the ICO, and report silent or dropped calls to OFCOM. These spam callers ignore posts here, but they really get concerned when folks take a couple of minutes to report them to Ofcom or the ICO. It's quick and actually makes a difference.

The phone rang around 6 in the evening. The caller purporting to be from a company discussing Windows computers. I requested that they take my number off their list and promptly ended the call. I used to receive these nuisance calls several times a week, though they've dwindled in number lately. It's absolutely absurd that there's no solution to halt these calls!

My in laws got calls from these lot today. They hung up on them loads of times and got shouted at really harshly, with threats that they'd be ringing non stop till midnight!

I've received a call from this number too! Upon picking up, they promptly hung up. Interestingly, just before Christmas in 2016, I had a similar experience with the aforementioned 0203 number. I kept them on the line a bit longer and realised it was a ruse to persuade me into downloading some software. Their goal was clearly to gain access to my computer and monitor my activities. They pretended to represent BT's technical support, which made it even more concerning!

Got a call from someone called "William" claiming to be from Microsoft about a problem with my PC - all the classic nonsense they usually say. I kept him chatting for about half an hour before I finally ended it. After that, he rang me 11 times back to back. Honestly, my tip is to pretend to believe them and just keep them busy - they’re the ones footing the bill for the calls anyway!

Classic computer virus trick again. I usually say I know way more about computers than them. Sometimes they just go quiet so I stay silent too and they hang up pretty quick.

I received a call today from someone claiming to be with 'Windows', insisting that a staggering 60% of my computer was infected with viruses, even though I wouldn't be able to detect them myself. He rattled off a reference number starting with 888DCA60, instructing me to input it on my machine. I managed to buy myself some time, and he then provided a contact number, 0203 630 4338, advising me to ring back and mention I had spoken to a chap named Tony Fredrick and quote MX1097 for further assistance. Naturally, I've chosen not to call back. I contacted BT to set up some form of call control blacklist, but they informed me that the 08712 700036 number isn't recognised as valid, so I can't add it to the blacklist.

Typically, I’m quick to send these callers packing, but there have been instances when I've indulged them. Once, I played along for about half an hour, feigning ignorance and acting as though I couldn't grasp their convoluted instructions. The fury that ensued from them for having 'wasted their time' was utterly delightful. For the last three years, I've kept my phone on voicemail, and now I hardly ever pick up unless absolutely necessary.

Got a call on 23-03-17 from some dodgy bloke pretending to be from Microsoft saying my computer was full of viruses. I told him to jog on because he was wasting my time. They called back a few times after that but i just ignored it. This has been happening for years now and nothing gets done. Typical BT, probably more interested in lining their pockets than helping out.

This number pesters me multiple times throughout the day, regardless of the hour. I've already taken the step of blocking it, yet my phone continues to indicate that it's attempting to reach me repeatedly. I’ve come to realise it’s nothing more than a scam related to a Microsoft PC virus. Quite the nuisance, really!

I've received a couple of calls from this number over the last few days, and two more came through just yesterday while I was around. The first one today rang just after 9 in the morning. Each time, I answered on speaker, but it was just dead air before they dropped the line. Quite unsettling, to be honest. Is this even allowed?

An elderly mate of mine got a call from this number (08712700036) today, with someone pretending to be from Microsoft. When they tried to politely decline, the caller kept going on about some virus on their computer, so eventually they just hung up. After that, the scammers called back three more times, each time sounding pretty pushy and asking ‘why’d you hang up?’ So annoying and disrespectful. We just ignored the next few calls and luckily they’ve stopped ringing now. It’s really concerning when they target older folks like that - these scammers should be put to a stop.

Got a ring from this number once, but the bloke just cut me off after about 5 secs. Then he called back moaning that I’d dropped the call. So this guy claiming to be from Microsoft rang me saying they wanted to remove some kind of encryption from my Windows PC. He had a really strong Indian accent and I told him I owned 6 computers. He went "ahh alright, I understand" and then gave me a code starting with 888.
