A person with an Asian accent called, claimed to be from Microsoft but wouldn't give a name. When I asked how they had my number, they said it’s coz I use some windows software. I quizzed them on how they could know that even if I didn’t own a PC, then they just hung up on me.

08712700036 total pain, maybe even dodgy. Sounded like it was a call centre, loads of noise in the background. Spoke with an American accent, said his name was "Alex" when I asked.

Got a call claiming to be from Microsoft about some errors they said were coming from my PC. I told them straight I don't have a computer, let alone a laptop. They didn't wanna hear it and just hung up. Sounds like a classic Microsoft scam to me.

Got a call earlier today, first one like this in ages. Same old story about my computer having some sort of Windows issues. I played along for a bit, pretending I couldn’t see what they wanted me to check. After a while, I asked how to see which Windows version I’m running. They explained, but I went on saying I couldn’t find any Windows logo anywhere. Then I wrapped it up after about ten minutes, saying maybe the trouble was I was actually on a Mac, and there’s no Windows icon on that. They just hung up straight away.

Got a call earlier today from this number, a bloke with a really thick South Asian accent. I struggled to catch most of what he was saying, and the whole thing sounded dodgy, like it was coming from somewhere far away. I heard bits like "computer" and "Microsoft", but that was about it. Pretty sure it was some kind of scam, so I just told him I wasn’t buying it and hung up. Never had a call from this number before, and I’m hoping it stays that way, but knowing these types, probably not. Honestly, it’s quite pathetic.

Got a call from this number this morning - first time in ages for something like this. The caller went on about some Windows errors and all that stuff. I played along, pretending I couldn't spot what they wanted me to see. After a bit, I asked how to check which Windows version I had. They explained, but I acted like I couldn't find any Windows logo. Wrapped up about ten mins chatting by saying maybe the issue was because I use an Apple Mac, no sign of Windows there. Then they hung up #Click#. I've added the number to my call blocker now.

I had this horrible caller who started swearing right after I hung up! Then they kept ringing me back like 8 times in a row, each time being abusive. Seriously stressful!

Yet again, a man with an Indian accent pretending to be from Microsoft said my PC was hacked. When I asked for his company details and some proof about the problem, he got really defensive. He kept pushing and started getting quite hostile when I didn’t want to open any programmes on my laptop. I requested his company phone number to check it against the official Microsoft one, and not long after, he rang back asking if I’d complied. Im in the middle of reporting this to Action Fraud right now.

They called me early at about 8 in the morning and then again around half past four. When I picked up, they just ended the call straight away. I do have caller ID but it’s only on my phone downstairs, and I was upstairs at the times they called. These calls are really annoying, so from now on I’m just going to ignore the phone upstairs and keep an eye on the ones downstairs. Hopefully they’ll catch on and stop bothering me.

Another one of those tech support scammers, I caught on straight away and cut the call off before he could even get through his spiel.

Got a really loud call from some overseas call centre asking for info about my computer. I told the bloke they were ringing a business number and he began shouting, wanting to speak to the owner. I told him since he’s from Microsoft and we’ve got loads of MS licenses, he should already know who that is. Then he just hung up.

They have rung me twice already today, once before 8 in the morning and just a moment ago. I’ve noticed there’s a little delay before they start talking, so on the last call I said they had reached the police fraud line. They just ended the call straightaway.

Got a call from 08712700036 just now, someone asking for access before I cut them off. Sounded familiar, same old story about "show us evidence only we’d know" - classic line. If you want, google "clsid scam". Don’t hand your phone to your nephew unless you really know who you’re dealing with. Any problem they mentioned wouldn’t be sorted like this; should be done through your anti-virus, firewall settings or Windows updates.

Got a few calls over the last couple of days, didn’t answer any. This morning, a bloke called himself Johnathon from Windows. I asked if I’d asked to be contacted. He just said his name again. I asked once more if I’d asked for the call, then he just hung up. Since then, I’ve had some calls from different numbers but didn’t pick up - no voicemail left. Later, when I was out, someone called and left nothing but background noise on my answerphone, maybe trying to mess around.

Some guy called Jonathan from Windows, sounded really Asian or something. I was like, yeah right, a virus on my PC! Was sure these scams got shut down ages ago. Then the call just dropped. Do these scammers never take a break?

Had a few calls in the last couple of days but never got round to answering. This morning, a bloke named Johnathon said he was from Windows when I finally picked up. I asked if I’d actually asked for the call. He just said his name again. I asked once more if I’d requested it, and then he just hung up. Later on, I got calls from different numbers but never picked up or got any voicemail. Then while I was out, someone rang and just left a load of background noise on the answerphone, maybe trying to fill the tape or something.

Some bloke called Johnathon rang me and when I told him to jog on and ended the call, he rang right back and started being really rude. After a bit of a row, he told me to shut it and said he could hack into my computer whether I said yes or not. I told him again to leave me alone and hung up. He tried ringing a few more times but since I saw his number, I just ignored it. Elderly folk on their own won’t have a hope against these types, I keep checking my PC just to be safe, something seriously needs to be done about them.

Got a call from an Asian guy saying he wanted to fix problems on my Windows PC. Claimed he was watching and noticed security faults. Funny, considering my computer's not even on. Seriously, Ofcom needs to step in and put a stop to these dodgy calls.

If you've already signed up with TPS, make sure to report any scam calls to the ICO, and report silent or dropped calls to OFCOM. These spam callers ignore posts here, but they really get concerned when folks take a couple of minutes to report them to Ofcom or the ICO. It's quick and actually makes a difference.

Used to get these calls loads every week, but thankfully they’ve slowed down a bit now. It’s so frustrating that nobody can seem to put a stop to these annoying calls!

That number rang me up too. The moment I picked up, they just hung up. But a bit before Christmas in 2016, I was called by that same 0203 number. I played along for a while and figured out they were trying to trick me into downloading some dodgy software. Their goal was to have a look at everything I do on my computer. They said they were from BT’s tech support, but it was definitely a scam.

Got a call from someone called "William" claiming to be from Microsoft about a problem with my PC - all the classic nonsense they usually say. I kept him chatting for about half an hour before I finally ended it. After that, he rang me 11 times back to back. Honestly, my tip is to pretend to believe them and just keep them busy - they’re the ones footing the bill for the calls anyway!

Classic computer virus trick again. I usually say I know way more about computers than them. Sometimes they just go quiet so I stay silent too and they hang up pretty quick.

Had a call earlier today from someone claiming to be with ‘Windows’, saying that 60% of my PC was infected with viruses, but apparently I wouldn’t notice any issues. They gave me a ref starting with 888DCA60 and told me to punch it into my computer. I hesitated and then they handed me a number, 0203 630 4338, telling me to ring back and mention speaking to Tony Fredrick with ref MX1097, and that someone would guide me through the process. Of course, I didn’t call back. I got in touch with BT and tried to set up a call control blacklist, but it wouldn’t let me add the 08712 700036 number because it said it wasn’t a valid number.

Usually I just tell these callers to buzz off, but sometimes I play along. There was one time I kept up the act for nearly half an hour, acting like I couldn’t understand their demands at all. It really winds them up when they realise they’ve been messed about, which honestly makes it even more fun for me. For the past three years I’ve had my phone on voicemail, and I hardly ever pick up now.

Got a call on 23-03-17 from some dodgy bloke pretending to be from Microsoft saying my computer was full of viruses. I told him to jog on because he was wasting my time. They called back a few times after that but i just ignored it. This has been happening for years now and nothing gets done. Typical BT, probably more interested in lining their pockets than helping out.

This firm rang me 5 times this morning. I told the person straight away in the first two calls that I wasn't interested, but they kept ringing back. Eventually, I just let it go to voicemail. Quite irritating, especially since I was expecting a call about a family member’s surgery today and wanted the phone free!

Got a call from a bloke with a typically British name but spoke with a very strong Indian accent. He said my Windows PC was at risk of being hacked and asked if it was turned on. Then he started talking about some kind of licence and rattled off a code something like 888DCA60. I told him it’d be best if he spoke with my nephew and asked for his number so the nephew could call him. He then put me through to some “manager” who gave me the number 02036300338. I asked why the call was coming from the UK, and he mentioned a London address. Ended the call by saying I had to go to an appointment, which was the truth. The same number called me three times back-to-back after that. Really persistent! Then they started ringing again at 7.45 this morning. If they don’t bother to leave a message on the answerphone, it’s because they want to get money off you.

An elderly mate of mine got a call from this number (08712700036) today, with someone pretending to be from Microsoft. When they tried to politely decline, the caller kept going on about some virus on their computer, so eventually they just hung up. After that, the scammers called back three more times, each time sounding pretty pushy and asking ‘why’d you hang up?’ So annoying and disrespectful. We just ignored the next few calls and luckily they’ve stopped ringing now. It’s really concerning when they target older folks like that - these scammers should be put to a stop.
