I received a phone call from this number, and there was a pre-recorded message claiming to be for a Barclaycard security verification. I decided to end the call, just to be on the safe side.

I received a robotic call purporting to be from Barclaycard, requesting that I verify my identity by picking out my date of birth from a list of four options. I decided to cut the call short and dialled the customer services line directly. To my surprise, they confirmed it was indeed a LEGITIMATE call, prompted by what they flagged as some suspicious activity on my account.

The phone goes off unexpectedly. A pre-recorded message informs me it’s Barclaycard discussing security matters, mentioning the name of the individual they’re trying to reach - which, coincidentally, is someone who indeed possesses a Barclaycard. Quite rightly, that person hangs up immediately. After that, I check BT's 1471 service to find the last caller's number, revealing it to be 08453561012. This number has quite the reputation, doesn't it? It makes one wonder - when is Ofcom actually going to take action, rather than just spouting empty promises, regarding this number and the plethora of others that are already recognised as scammers?

I've received calls at both my home and mobile from this number, where an automated voice insisted they were from fraud prevention. To be on the safe side, I contacted Barclaycard directly, and they confirmed that my account was all fine. It's definitely wise to ring them back using a different line. Better safe than sorry!
