I ended the call and rang Barclaycard customer service directly, and they said it actually was a real call. They mentioned it was because they spotted what looked like some unusual activity on my account.

Checked the last call using BT’s 1471 and the number showed as 08453561012. This number’s infamous for scams. When is Ofcom actually going to step in and take proper action - not just talk rubbish - about this and loads of other dodgy numbers everyone knows are scams?

Obviously, it sounded dodgy, so I rang Barclaycard myself using a separate phone. They told me everything was fine with my account. I'd say it’s safer to always ring them back on another device, just to be sure.
