Got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media, saying they were sending me a new box and updating my cables. Then they asked for my date of birth. I told them I'd ring Virgin Media directly to sort it out, and they just ended the call.

So, these calls keep coming every day and night, saying if I don’t press option 1, my internet with British Telecom will be cut off within 30 minutes. It’s an automated message, and honestly, I’ve blocked loads of numbers already but they just ring from a new one each time. The worst part? I’m not even a BT customer! It’s been so annoying and they just won’t stop.

Got a call from a young woman, sounded like she might be Indian or from somewhere similar, claiming to represent Sky. She said they were checking in with pensioners and doing some kind of review. Offered to send me a new Sky box for free and promised to cut my monthly bill by 40%. Mentioned they’d cancel my current contract and send me a new one. Then she asked for my bank details, which I found odd because surely Sky would already have that info. I played along briefly and then ended the call. They rang back a few minutes later but I didn’t pick up. Definitely felt like a dodgy scam.

This afternoon, my elderly mum got three calls from this number. The people on the line claimed they were from Sky and wanted to send her a couple of new Sky boxes. They asked her for her bank info, which immediately raised a red flag. I’d already told her never to share such details with anyone, no matter who they claim to be, but the callers kept pushing. Luckily, mum stuck to my advice and refused to give anything, insisting they send something in writing so she could check if it was genuine. Then, out of nowhere, they just ended the call on her.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Sky TV, said they were sending me a new Sky box and would cut my bill in half. They already had some of my bank info so I thought it was legit to give them the rest. What a silly mistake. When I called Sky for confirmation, they told me to cancel my card immediately. So yeah, cancelled it straight away. Learned the hard way, but at least it’s a lesson well learnt.

over the past three days they've called me four times but never left any voicemail when my answerphone picks up. i wouldn’t bother calling them back as 0844 numbers can be pricey. if it was something important, they’d either hang around on the line or leave a message, simple as that.
