Totally relate to what Colin said about the Green Deal calls. We’re on the TPS list as well, yet they still keep ringing. Our BT 6500 phone is a bit old now and can only block around 20 numbers, and we’ve already used them all up! The annoying bit is these scammers just keep switching their caller ID. Seems like the only real fix is one of those call blockers or maybe a phone that lets you whitelist numbers instead of trying to block each one. - caller: 08438840025

Got a call about changing my boiler, sounded like one of those scams. They were going on about how it's urgent to do it before 2016, which makes no sense. Didn't even give me a way to say no. Avoid these calls!

Just wanted to say, I totally get what others are saying about these annoying cold calls. I used to get so many but then I bought a BT8500 phone with Phone Guardian and honestly, it’s done the trick. If you’re fed up like I was, it might be worth trying.

This company from some national list keeps ringing me up, I answered twice just to say stop but they just dropped the call. I called back and told the bloke he’d hung up, and guess what, he did it again. How come they can keep calling me like 4 times a day and I can’t get them to quit?

After getting a call I didn’t ask for, which is a bit cheeky as I’m on the TPS, I decided to ring back this number. A chap with a Scottish accent picked up and said he worked for something called the ‘Green Deal Funding Centre’. When I asked him to clarify, he admitted it wasn’t linked to any government programme, but just a private company. I told him I’d report them to the ICO, and I’ve already made the complaint. They were trying to say you had to get work done by 2016, which is pure nonsense.

Got myself some new phones with BT call guardian and honestly, they’re brilliant. Those annoying calls don’t get past at all. Definitely the best phones I've ever owned, I'd suggest anyone to get them. Whenever I spot a number that looks dodgy, I just block it straight away. We used to be bombarded with those boiler scam calls daily, but now they’ve stopped completely.

Even though I’m on the TPS list, this number has called me twice in under a week with recorded messages. The first one was barely understandable, and the second one said it was about Green Deal Energy checks. They mentioned some “national database” to sound official and claimed every home in the UK “has to be checked by 2016,” clearly trying to scare older people into thinking it's a legal requirement to let their assessor in. It’s dodgy enough that they’re breaking marketing laws - why would anyone trust them poking around their home? You should report these annoying calls to the ICO. Got a call from a cold caller the other day, but when I answered, there was nothing but silence. Bit annoying really. I'm on the do not call list and my number's ex-directory, yet these calls still come through. Feels like the TPS doesn’t do much to help.

I hit 2 and spoke to a bloke who told me it was about the green deal finance. I mentioned I work as a green deal advisor and assumed the government had stopped the scheme. He said that's true, but now Barclays Bank is providing the funding instead. Seemed alright to me.

I got a call saying there were energy saving agents nearby and to press two for a callback. So I pressed two, and a bloke answered really curtly before just hanging up. Feels like I wasn’t meant to actually speak to someone when I chose that option. Plus, there was no way to say no or opt out, which was a bit dodgy.
