08082800901 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number โ˜Ž๏ธ 08082800901 ๐Ÿ‘† is reported as a phone number linked to Santanderโ€™s fraud team used to contact customers about suspicious transactions. While many users confirm the calls and texts as genuine attempts by Santander to prevent fraud, numerous reports warn that scammers frequently spoof or clone this number to deceive and extract personal or banking details. The number is associated with automated messages asking for transaction verification, but genuine Santander advice is to never respond directly to unexpected contacts. Instead, always end the call or ignore texts, then contact your bank using the official number on your bank card or statement. Vigilance is essential, as scammers imitate official communication convincingly, so verifying independently with Santander helps ensure your accountโ€™s security.

Got a text message about some odd bank transactions that I wasn’t aware of. When I replied to say they weren’t mine, my phone started ringing straight away. It was my Samsung phone app flagging the call as "Possible Spam." I just ignored it and didn't pick up.

I got a call from this number saying there was some dodgy activity on my account. It sounded a bit fishy to me, so I hung up and called Santander directly. They told me it was actually one of their advisors, so it wasn’t a scam after all.

Don’t ever trust a call out of the blue saying it’s from your bank. And don’t brush it off either. These days, scammers can fake any bank number you can think of, so you can’t be certain whether it’s really your bank or someone trying to scam you. The best thing to do is to just end the call straight away. Make sure the line’s clear, then ring your bank back using the phone number on your card or bank statements. That’s the safest way to keep your money safe. Even if the number looks like it’s from Santander, that doesn’t mean it’s genuinely them reaching out.

Early Saturday morning around 5am on 3/8/25, I got a text about some dodgy activity on my Santander account. The message asked if I knew about the transactions, with a simple y or n reply. Suspecting it might be a con, I texted back n. Right after, my phone rang from 08082800901, but my phone flagged it as probable spam.

Got a text out of the blue saying there was a payment declined on my account and asking if it was me who made the purchase. Didn’t sound familiar at all, so I replied with N just like the message told me to do. Right after that, my phone started ringing and an automated voice claimed to be from the bank checking on my response. I didn’t trust it and hung up straight away, then blocked the number.

Got a message claiming to be from Santander about a payment at techgadget.site. Turns out Santander actually did refuse the payment on my card. I replied with N, then that number rang me straight back. I just ended the call and got in touch with Santander myself. Definitely a scam, all started because Santander had declined the charge. Got a text today that looked proper real, it even showed up in my messages under a Santander alert about a payment of £324.14 to 'ESTATEQUANT'. They asked me to confirm by texting Y or N and to put in a pin if asked, especially if i didn't know the payment. When I replied with N, it instantly linked me to someone pretending to be from Santander. Seriously, don’t fall for it or hand over any info. I've just reported the whole thing to Santander's phishing email so they know about this scam.

This number keeps ringing me again and again with a machine voice asking to verify my year of birth or something like that. I got in touch with Santander who said they’d never do calls like this. They did mention there was some suspicious activity linked to Booking.com though, so maybe there’s been a leak on their end? Not sure. For now, I’ve just blocked the number and didn’t answer any more.

It felt a bit dodgy at first but looked like a legit Santander number. They mentioned stuff about a recent payment I made. The problem I had seemed like a tech glitch, so I didn’t go all the way with it since the automated system wouldn’t let me explain properly, but I think my account is alright. The number seemed okay to me, but like others said, if you’re not sure, just call the bank directly. For me, it wasn’t serious enough to bother doing that.

If you ring up your bank to see if the call is legit (check the comments below) the people in the call centre can tell you if the bank’s been trying to get in touch and can put you through to the right team or sort it out for you. But they won’t necessarily recognise all the separate numbers the bank might use. Even if the call centre says it’s a scam, that doesn’t always mean the number itself is dodgy. Fake calls using real business numbers is a huge issue for both companies and their clients.

I got a robo call from this number yesterday saying there was weird activity on my account, I didn’t trust it and just ended the call. Don’t ever just brush off unexpected calls from your bank. Always ring them back using the phone number printed on your debit or credit card to be safe. Banks use loads of different numbers to get in touch, so it’s hard to tell if it’s actually them or some dodgy scammer trying to steal your money. There’s a known trick where scammers put up false danger warnings about real bank numbers on this site, hoping people will block them or report them to ‘7726’ - doing that can cause your phone provider to mark all calls from that number as spam for everyone else.

Just received a rather dubious call at half past nine this evening! It was a pre-recorded message claiming to be from Santander, urging me to confirm my personal information without giving any clear reasons. They prompted me to enter my birth year, offering a selection where one was indeed accurate, followed by my birth month and day. That’s when I decided enough was enough and ended the call. Honestly, if there has been any misappropriation of my funds, there’s only a handful of individuals privy to my affairs. Luckily, I’m covered by the bank’s insurance.

This number actually belongs to Santander’s fraud department. I got a bit wary so I called them up and told them I thought it might be a scam. I can confirm that this number belongs to the fraud team at Santander. Initially, I was a bit wary about it, so I decided to give them a call. It said the next msgs would come from +447862124693 with transaction details and how to reply. Then another text said “Santander: Your card ending 3682 was used on 04-09-2022 at APPLE.COM/BILL for £64.99. Reply Y if you recognise this or N if not. Or call 08082800901 and enter PIN 462.” Sounds fishy to me. If you get similar, always call the number on the back of your bank card to be safe.

I didn’t pick up the call so they just left a voicemail. They didn’t say their name, just dropped a phone number. My phone company labelled it as Suspected Spam though.

I've received a trio of calls and a pair of texts from this number, purporting to be from Santander. They were supposedly discussing a dubious transaction on my account for the sum of £1.66. Took the liberty of searching for the company they referenced regarding the payment, and lo and behold, it seems that company is a ghost. Stay vigilant folks! It's a total scam!

It's a downright scam, mate! Best to leave it be and not pick up - they're definitely not from Santander.

Seems like it's Santander. They've been calling and then hanging up after just a few seconds every hour or so, plus they left a voicemail that only had their phone number. I reckon their systems must be totally messed up because they're supposed to send an email, a text, and a detailed voicemail about it - none of which happen. So the call just pops up out of the blue with no way to check who they really are.

Somebody said they worked for a firm linked to my pension, called muffled.something associates or something like that. We were out when they first called. After that, they kept ringing loads over a few days, even late at night around 9.30. Since then, no calls or letters from them. Feels very dodgy, like a scam to me.

I can verify this number belongs to Santander. I got several calls on both my mobile and home phone from this number, along with messages about a possible fraudulent credit card charge. Since I’m always wary of numbers I don’t know, I rang the Santander number on the back of my card. They confirmed the calls and texts were genuine and helped me cancel and reorder my card because I didn’t recognise the suspicious charge.

This number kept ringing my home phone 5 times today and also called my mobile 3 times. They claimed to be from Santander and mentioned someone (by name!) who actually banks with Santander. With those details being right, it's quite easy to fall for it.

Dont ever dismiss calls or messages saying theyre from your bank. If one comes through, listen carefully to what they say, hang up, then make sure the line is properly disconnected (ask a mate to help if youre unsure how to do this ;-). After that, ring up your bank using the phone number on the back of your card. Dont hang about!! If its legit, there could be an urgent issue that needs sorting straight away.

Got three calls all within 15 minutes, two on my mobile and one on my landline. I got in touch with Santander Security, and they told me that Paypal requested a payment of £118.80 for TOTALAV. I never gave permission for this, which explains why Santander kept trying to reach me. I just hate it when they use automated messages - makes me super wary and I usually just hang up when they tell me to press buttons to go on.

Got a message from this number saying it was Santander Bank claiming 'totalav[###]' charged my account £118.8. They wanted me to reply Y or N so I sent N. Then the same number rang me on my mobile. I told the person I couldn’t hear well and asked if they could call my landline instead, but they told me to call them back on this number, which I haven’t done yet. I’ve checked my bank and no money’s been taken out to [#]TOTALAV[###].

I put a comment on here a few hours ago and since then they’ve rung my Mum twice more. Honestly, it’s like they’ve got no respect at all, keeping at it even when nobody picks up!

My Mum’s phone got two calls this morning plus a text claiming to be from Santander, saying someone had spent £79 at Primark on her card. They tried the same trick with her a few weeks ago with a different number but the same shop and amount. Since Mum can’t leave the house and her card is tucked away safely, there’s no way this could be true. Looks like just another scam attempt!

This phone number is associated with Santander Bank. It seems to be regarding suspicious activity on your account, and they only ring very occasionally. Contrary to what I previously believed, it's not a scam at all; it's the real deal.
