Some muppet tried to con me, telling me to ring this number to check if it was legit. Silly them, Santander usually shows up as the caller ID on most mobiles nowadays. My top tip for anyone getting a dodgy message like “£x has been sent to y company” is to take a sec, chill out, then either call your bank using the number on their official site or have a look at your online banking. I guess a lot of folks might call back, but I didn’t. Seems quite dodgy to me until I confirm it’s really from Santander! They actually gave a security code, just three digits, and told me not to say it out loud even if I rang back… felt quite suspicious.

Got a dodgy call from Santander on my mobile and even on my landline, which is pretty worrying. The number was 0808 280 0323. Don’t phone it back. Best to call the actual bank’s official number and let them know about it.

How come Santander takes ages to tell if a number belongs to them? It’s 2024 for crying out loud! Get with the programme so we can stop these idiots. Always be cautious with calls and you’ll be fine. Always ring back the company to make sure the call is genuine. People like this need to be taken off the streets.

Got a voicemail from this number claiming to be Santander. It rang both my mobile and home phone, which was a bit sus. They left a pin to use if I called back, but I didn’t bother - it’s obviously a dodgy call. Real banks give you a secure pin for phone banking, but they’d never send it through a voicemail, way too risky. Plus, the call was clearly automated with a robot voice and they didn’t mention any of my personal info, like my name, which made it even more sketchy.

Got multiple calls yesterday from someone pretending to be Santander bank. First one sounded quite real, they asked me to call back on a number (didnt say press 1 or anything) and gave a 3 digit code to punch in. I rang my local branch just to be sure - total scam. Then got loads of automated calls all day after that.
