9 yearsI received a rather peculiar phone call today. The number showed up as 'unavailable', and when I inquired about the caller’s identity, they provided me with the number 0800800149. To my astonishment, they informed me it would be charged at a rate of £5 per minute for incoming calls. Naturally, I pointed out that 0800 numbers are free to dial from landlines, to which the caller nonchalantly explained it was a 'special' BT number meant to block incoming calls. They insisted my computer was being utilised by others and claimed there was no hassle or cost involved-they could easily rectify the situation. They proceeded to ask about the colour of my router’s light and other such details.
