My phone shows Domestic and General for the number 0800 497 0793. I've been a customer for quite a few years. Lately, I cancelled some of my policies and also had to register a new fridge to activate the warranty. The process directed me straight to Domestic and General. Since then, I've been bombarded with calls nearly 20 times just in August alone. I let everything go straight to voicemail only because it's the only way to avoid the constant disturbance. They ring my mobile and landline one after the other. This isn’t any sort of number spoofing - it’s proper harassment.

Domestic & General insurance policies are actually pretty good and I’d definitely suggest them, unlike those dodgy extended warranties that just take your money. The only downside is their marketing is way too pushy, which just annoys people and makes them want to cancel. If someone’s told you many times they already have coverage on every device and to stop ringing them, just respect that and stop calling!

I called a customer of mine who struggles with mental health and has a learning difficulty. They told him they were coming to take his TV away. This man has just started managing his own money and was confused about why they were saying that since he’d bought the TV himself. He got really scared thinking they’d actually take it off him. He got very anxious, but thankfully support was nearby to help him out. Otherwise, I’m not sure how it would’ve ended. D and G need to stop these cold calls, it’s pushy and unwanted. Surely there’s a nicer way to do business than this???

Even though we've made it clear to d&g multiple times that we're not interested in insuring anything else and have already cancelled our current policies, they keep ringing us. Even though this number is marked as verified, I found the start of the call to be quite dodgy, to say the least - it was 6:30 in the evening! I can't recall ever receiving calls from companies this late; usually, they wrap things up by 5 or 6. When I answered, there was an awkward silence followed by a rather unsettlingly soft "hello," which left me feeling odd. The chap on the other end claimed to be from Domestic & General, offering to provide me with insurance quotations but then asked me to confirm my personal details. At that point, I decided it was best to hang up, as I could hear some rustling noises in the background, which didn’t exactly scream ‘professional call centre.’ If this really is Domestic & General, they might want to reconsider their approach to outbound calls - it was downright creepy! I’ll be reaching out to them tomorrow to lodge a complaint.

If you’ve got insurance with them and have made a claim, or bought anything from brands like Whirlpool or Indesit that are connected to them, they won’t leave you alone.
