Got a call today at 11.20am, 1st April from someone saying he was Matthew from Domestic and General. He claimed my washing machine cover was due for renewal and mentioned calls were recorded. Then he started asking questions that would’ve been obvious if I already had a policy. I asked why I hadn’t received any renewal documents yet, and he said they always call before sending anything. Total scam alert - I don’t even have a washing machine policy with them! Watch out for this.

They already know what your current policy covers but can add extras like a couple more TVs or a laptop without extra cost. You see, I had set up an appointment with them for a repair on one of my appliances under my insurance policy for white goods. The date is all confirmed, so it’s likely they’re just checking in to ensure everything is alright with the process thus far.

This is probably a scam call. I didn’t pick up as I’m always wary of 0800 numbers. I’m pretty sure some people working in banks tip off scammers when you need to update your banking info or verify strange transactions. I went through this yesterday and then got a call from 08004970742. After looking at other reviews, I realised I’d also just cancelled some direct debits for my kitchen gear. I never trust these sorts of calls and reckon if it’s legit, they’ll ring on their usual office number. Definitely don’t call these numbers back. Hope this helps someone!

This number is a total scam, rang me around 5.45pm saying my direct debit for my cooker was cancelled and asked if I wanted to set it up again. It sounded legit and showed up as D&G on my phone so I nearly fell for it, but I was driving so told them to ring back in an hour. I thought I'd better be safe and phoned Domestic & General using the number on my paperwork, and they said they'd never call to arrange a direct debit, plus their direct debit department shuts by 5pm! So yeah, steer clear of this number.
