This number keeps ringing me like every day, asking me to press a key to get some "HR lesson" that starts with words like 'wide', 'hide', or 'zara'. It says stuff like “press any key to listen more” or “press any button for HRS lesson." I didn’t want to pick up since it seemed dodgy. I looked it up and it might be some national thing, but I’m not sure. Maybe I’ll just check with the branch later.

TOTAL SCAMMERS! They’re pretending to be from Nationwide bank or something. Not a clue how they got my info - maybe there’s been a data leak somewhere. I’ve been trying to sort out a problem with missing money that’s been taken out of my account without permission. I received a couple of automated calls from Nationwide today on the number 0800 4643136. They prompted me to hit a button to verify my name. I had spoken to my local branch the previous day regarding mortgage repayments, and I figured that if it was about that, it would likely be a staff member reaching out. Unfortunately, the local branch has closed for the day, but I plan to ring them up tomorrow to see if they're familiar with that number. Somehow, I doubt they will be. I can't help but feel that if it were genuinely urgent, I would expect to hear an actual person on the line rather than an automated system.

Like many, I was initially convinced this was a con, but it turns out it wasn't at all. My recommendation would be to get in touch with your bank, just as I did. They were unable to dispatch my statements and reached out to clarify things.

Earlier this evening, around 8pm, my wife rang me while I was on the job. She mentioned receiving an automated call from Nationwide regarding an overdraft issue. She kindly passed me the number. Naturally, I rang Nationwide first to verify that everything with my account was in order before I decided to give the dubious number a bell - just for a laugh, really. Upon calling, I was met with an automated response claiming they couldn't locate my account, despite me not providing any information whatsoever. They simply instructed me to ring back during business hours. Can you believe that? Even the scammers seem to be sticking to office hours nowadays!

I received a call on my home phone today, but my answerphone managed to take the message instead. Out of curiosity, I masked my own number and rang back. An automated voice identified itself as Nationwide and prompted me to input the number they'd called me on. At that moment, I decided to terminate the call! I then reached out to Nationwide directly, and they confirmed that no one from their office had attempted to contact me. The representative even tried calling the number herself, and when it asked for information, she repeatedly pressed #. On the official Nationwide line, doing that redirects you to a real person after informing you that it can't locate your details. However, in this case, the call simply ended abruptly! The customer service rep at Nationwide is sceptical about the legitimacy of the call. If that number tries to reach me again, I certainly won't be giving out any personal information! 23.8.17

It's rather alarming, isn't it? They seemed to have acquired both my new mobile and landline numbers, which I hadn't shared with my bank branch at all. So, I decided to ring up the fraud team, and to my surprise, they confirmed that number isn't registered in their system and assured me that no information should have been disclosed. Moreover, the bank is quite diligent about overdrafts - they always send a written notification before ever seeking payment on any debt.

It's hard to believe anyone would claim this is above board. A few months back, I slipped past my overdraft limit and got a letter from Nationwide, followed by a phone call. They made it clear I couldn't settle my debt over the phone and insisted I pop into a branch instead. Quite frankly, it feels like a dodgy operation. Steer clear of handing over any debit or credit card information or any bank account details!

It’s rather puzzling, isn’t it? Some folks claim this number is part of a nationwide service, while others insist it’s not affiliated with them at all. Quite contradictory, if you ask me! I've received numerous calls from this number over several months, yet I've chosen not to pick up any of them due to my reluctance to engage with unfamiliar callers. In the end, I've just decided to block the number. Better safe than sorry, I reckon!

This is ABSOLUTELY a scam. I went to one of their branches earlier and they told me that number isn’t theirs. They admitted it sounded suspicious. You should report it for sure.

Today, I received a rather peculiar call from this number. Upon picking up, I was greeted by a robotic voice that said, "this is a legitimate call for..." and then proceeded to use my name. It all felt quite off, and I couldn't shake the discomfort it brought me. They urged me to press certain buttons to proceed, but I decided against it. Eventually, I hung up and promptly blocked the number. I'd never encountered something like this before-it was quite unsettling, especially considering they had both my name and my contact details.

I've reached out to Nationwide Building Society myself, and they've confirmed that this number belongs to their Collections and Recovery team. It's the real deal. Just wanted to share that info from 20th June 2017.

It’s definitely Nationwide. I messaged their Twitter account personally and asked about it. They got back to me saying it was definitely one of their numbers. They also told me if you’re unsure, you can always ring 0800 30211 to verify if the number’s legit.
