Someone rang me pretending to be from Barclaycard and asked for my date of birth. I ended the call straight away, then phoned the real Barclaycard number, and they confirmed it was a scam.

A guy with a British regional accent rang me, knew my name and said he was from Barclaycard. He asked for my year of birth for "security reasons". When I asked why he needed it before confirming anything, he said he couldn't share details until I'd answered. I said no way and told him I'd ring Barclays proper number. He said he understood and suggested calling the number on the back of my card or visiting Barclays’ official site. I ended the call but he sounded quite legit, so watch out and don't get caught out!

Got calls on both my landline and mobile really early morning. Picked up one call and there was an Indian lady just saying “hello” then she cut off. Looked up the number on Google and decided to block it now.

Got a call from this number today, a woman who said her name was Rhani. She claimed there was an issue with my account and wanted me to confirm my birth year. I refused to provide it, then she asked for the three digits on the back of my card - again, I said no. I checked with Barclaycard through Apple Messages, and they said there was nothing flagged on my account needing attention. They couldn’t, however, confirm if this number was actually theirs or not. As others have mentioned, scammers can spoof real company numbers to make it seem legit.

Totally a scam. I rang Barclays using the number on the back of my card and they said it wasn’t them. They mentioned they’d never ask for personal info without explaining why they were calling or giving any prior notice. I’d steer clear of this one for sure!

A person said they were from Barclays, claiming they were ringing all customers about their Barclaycard but wouldn’t explain what it was about, they just kept asking for my birth year. The call also came at a weird time, way outside Barclays’ usual call centre hours.
