I’ve just had a chat with Barclay regarding this phone number and the rather puzzling message I got. They insist that I either ring the number or drop them an email, and they often suggest that if I'm having difficulties, I should reach out to chat about my account. I haven't paid them any mind, knowing full well it's a scam. So, a big shout out to the scammers: not today!

Received a message from this lot, and, rather foolishly, I got a bit anxious and ended up ringing them. Thankfully, I didn’t have my credit card on hand, so they only managed to snag my birth date and postcode. They then informed me that I hadn’t passed their so-called security checks. So, I popped into my local Barclay bank, but the staff looked utterly baffled by the whole situation. In the end, I resorted to using a payphone to give them a ring myself. Turns out, it was indeed a legitimate bank but they’d mixed me up with someone else entirely! Apparently, my number is registered under a different account at Barclaybank.
