I rang this number after attempting to settle my council tax online. Upon reaching the payment page, I encountered a peculiar screen that appeared over the usual interface, and there was absolutely no option to enter the so-called One Time Password. Instead, it displayed my bank's logo alongside an incorrectly formatted VISA symbol. When I dialled 0800 1615173, the individual who answered identified themselves as part of the "fraud service" and promptly requested my 16-digit card number. I maintained that the OTP should have been displayed, yet he insisted it wasn’t. I informed him, an Asian gentleman, that under the circumstances, I wouldn't divulge my card number, especially with no field available for the OTP. He ultimately terminated the call. Concerned, I reached out to my bank after realising my council tax payment was declined, despite having sufficient funds in my account. Thankfully, I believe I caught it just in the nick of time. My bank has since annulled my card.

This is definitely a scam! The radio station I work at is located just above a Nat West branch on Portland Street, Manchester, and they confirmed it’s not a real number. Got a call at 11:48pm last night but didn’t pick up.

I made an online purchase from Argos and paid with my NatWest debit card. Shortly after, I was asked for a one-time security code and prompted to click "Continue". Right away, my landline rang and a recorded voice claimed to be NatWest Security, saying if I pressed any number I'd get my passcode. I pressed a button, got the code, and entered it for my Argos purchase. It went through without any issue. From my experience, this number seems legit and looks like an added security measure by NatWest.

Got a robotic message saying "This is Nat West security, press any button for a one-time code". The call then dropped, so I dialled back the same number. The voice came on again, this time asking for my card details. Then the call cut out once more. I phoned Nat West and they told me they hadn’t tried to contact me today.

Absolutely. Got a spam call twice, once at 7:36 and again at 7:38 on a Sunday morning. Didn't bother picking up.

This number is from NatWest or RBS. They ring you while you're making an online purchase to provide a one-time passcode. If you get this call but aren't doing a transaction, it’s best to get in touch with your bank straight away.

I saw someone mention on the last page about what to do if your bank rings or texts you, dated 27/06/20. Honestly, it sounds about right! There’s so many sneaky scammers these days, I wouldn’t fully trust even if the number looks like it’s from the bank.

Yeah, this call was actually from RBS or Natwest. My lad tried to get a PS5 and the bank phoned with a code to approve the buy.

Supposedly it was 'NatWest' on the call, but the number showed up as 'Capitolone Customer Services' (bit of an odd spelling mistake there). I don’t actually have a NatWest account, so I didn’t bother pressing any buttons like they told me. Plus, they rang me twice within a few minutes. I’ve flagged it with my network and blocked the number, but figured I’d report it here as well.

I received a rather peculiar call featuring a robotic voice claiming I had asked for a one-time password (657189, if you're curious) that was only good for the next 8 minutes and instructed me to press a button to proceed. I thought better of it, though, and decided to reach out to NatWest's security team to verify that the number in question is most certainly not associated with them.

Had a couple of missed calls while my shop was still closed, so I rang back later. A recorded voice said it was from NatWest, so I just ended the call. I got in touch with NatWest myself and they told me they hadn’t called, probably some sort of scam.

Got a ring at 5:48 this morning from a number claiming to be NatWest with an automated message asking me to press a button for a one-time code. Hung up straight away and they called back about 7 minutes later with the same spiel. Ended up blocking the number now. Sounds like a total scam, no bank would ring up that early or randomly ask for codes. Be cautious out there!

Just got a call on my home phone at 8:52 pm from someone claiming to be NatWest, asking me to press 1 to get a one-time code. I’ve never even banked with NatWest! It’s obviously a scam - DON’T press anything. These scammers are awful and seriously, something's gotta be done before loads of folks get tricked and lose their money.

SCAM ALERT. Tried to steal info. Dont share anything with these idiots. They keep ringing my elderly Grandad non stop. I’ve had to set up an answer phone for him and told him to have it on all the time. Let them leave a message. If its someone he knows, he can pick up after hearing the message. Any weird numbers I deal with. These phone folks are just crooks, no two ways about it.

If you get a call or message claiming to be from your bank, never just brush it off - it could be something important. The problem is, scammers are faking bank numbers all the time, so it’s tricky to know what’s legit. Don’t answer or reply directly; instead, ring your bank yourself using the number on the back of your card. Just make sure your line is free before you call back. This is common sense, and any real bank worker would agree. Stay careful out there, everyone.

Got a message telling me to ring this number to sort out my TV licence, but I had a look at this site and glad I did. Won’t be ringing that number at all.

Got a robo call claiming to be from Bank of Scotland, asking me to press any key for my password. I don’t have any account there, so I just ended the call instead of pressing anything.

I could barely make out what they were saying, kept asking me to verify my address info. When I asked who they were and what they wanted, they just ended the call. This happens to me all the time, time to report them for good.

This number rang me twice, and the first time I ended the call after hearing "1 time pin". I looked it up on NatWest's website and the number is listed there. I reckon they might be spoofing it though, since nothing unusual has happened on my account. NatWest Secure 0800 161 5173 (from abroad +44 870 0104542). If you have hearing or speech difficulties, you can reach them via Minicom at 0800 141 3999. Just a heads up, calls could be recorded.
