Blimey, something similar just occurred to me a mere quarter of an hour ago! My network suddenly dropped and I’m now in the midst of a comprehensive scan with Sophos. It all stemmed from attempting to watch an action flick concerning Afghanistan on Facebook. Clearly, it’s nothing but a scam, and I can’t deny I’ve fallen for it. Fingers crossed I can tighten up my system to stave off any dodgy dealings, particularly with my card or other sensitive info.

Oh, the joys of dealing with con artists! It's a freephone number, which means you can ring them up without fear of revealing your own digits. What a thrill it is to vent my frustrations and let them know precisely what I think of their despicable behaviour! It’s like therapy, but with a bit more shouting and a lot less restraint. Such a delightful way to unleash your inner rage at those lowly swindlers!

I encountered a similar situation. I required access to address an issue, yet I felt quite wary about it. There were no fees to worry about, but I can’t shake the feeling that my computer may have been compromised.

I've encountered a similar situation myself. Now I'm unable to access Chrome or Facebook. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

I stumbled upon a post on Facebook regarding pets, and suddenly, a warning flashed on my screen declaring that my computer was compromised, instructing me to call a certain number right away. Feeling rather dubious about the whole situation, I decided to do a quick search online for further information.

does anyone know how to remove this on my chromebook? i don’t have a delete key like the usual ctrl alt del combo!

a warning popped up saying error 268d3 and that my computer was locked, telling me to call a number straight away or I'd lose access. it kept showing the number again and said all my info like credit card details, emails and logins would be stolen. it told me to call "engineers" to help fix it, which sounded dodgy. after looking into it, the number was a pricey premium line, so definitely don’t ring it. i reported it as a scam. for the record, the pop-up won’t actually harm your computer, so stay calm. if you’re worried, contact the police instead.

Today, I went through something similar. Right away, I felt something was off so I searched the number since I wasn’t planning to ring back. While trying to open Facebook, a message popped up looking proper legit and it stopped me from getting online. I had to do a ctrl-alt-del to log out and then logged in again without issues. Afterwards, Facebook worked just fine on my next try.

I had a similar thing happen to me. When I rang up to ask if it was some kind of scam and mentioned I’d be contacting the police, the guy who picked up just started hurling awful insults at me. Proper shocking behaviour.

I completely relate. I had a similar experience where they claimed my computer had been infiltrated and attempted to entice me into a call with their skimming scammers. Sly tactics, to say the least!

I just received a rather concerning call from 08000903233, urging me to get in touch right away - which, of course, I did. The bloke claimed to be from Microsoft and asked to gain access to my computer. He seemed quite convincing at first, quizzing me about the type of computer I use. However, a nagging doubt crept in, so I decided to ring my son for advice. He promptly informed me that it was indeed a scam and walked me through the steps to perform a comprehensive security scan, which is currently underway. Fingers crossed it wasn't a pricey call, as I ended up chatting for nearly seven minutes!

Just like others have said, I got a pop-up warning me that my PC was infected with a serious virus and if I didn’t do something immediately, all my photos, emails, and credit card info would be wiped and the PC would stop working! Took me a while to close it before I looked up the number it showed. The background looked like a real Microsoft screen, so it was pretty convincing. It’s really easy to fall for tricks like this. Anyway, I’ve already updated my Facebook password just in case!

Got a call from this number claiming to be Microsoft, total nonsense. They said my computer was having some big issue, showed me a warning page with something like '-error-warning-critical-serious-21x(####]', then claimed my PC was blocked. They gave out numbers like 0344 800 2400 and 0800 026 0061 for “support.” Told me to ring tech support at 0344 800 2400, but it’s all fake. Don't fall for it, they’re just trying to scam you.

I reckon it was one of those clickbait things, like you see on Facebook news. I went through the same exact thing.

I received a rather alarming notification on my screen stating that MY COMPUTER HAS BEEN BLOCKED. It urged me to ring 08000903233 without delay - a rather pressing warning, I must say! Apparently, my device has reported some dubious activity and is under threat. They mentioned something about sensitive information being compromised, including my Facebook credentials, credit card info, email accounts, and even personal photographs stored on the machine. It implored me to make the call within five minutes to avert my computer being incapacitated. Quite the fright, isn't it?
