Got a text saying I need to pick up a parcel from Maplin, which I know nothing about. There were no links in the message, so I’m clueless about the scam’s angle - maybe they’re just checking if this random phone number actually belongs to someone?

I got the same call, asked for my bank info and when I didn’t give it, they sent me a message saying they were gonna drop stuff round my place. Feels like some kinda scare tactic to me. Not sure what they’re up to exactly.

Received a text from someone saying they sent me an email with a consent form I need to sign to get my bank charges back!! Seems dodgy to me. They said they’re from a company called Gordon Lock wood or something like that? Definitely sounds scammy.

I just ordered from Maplins myself and based on what others have said here, this message looks genuine enough. I only put my home phone number on their site, so it makes sense.

This number rang me earlier, and I couldn't answer. Funny enough, it’s one of those early BT Cellnet 0860 numbers from way back in the 80s. Tried ringing back but the phone just said "number not recognised" which was odd. No voicemail or any message left either. Knowing how these old numbers get taken over by scammers, I’m not really shocked. Cheers for the warning. I’ll just block it next time. - Mick C.

Today, I got a few calls from 07860020910, all coming through the BT Text messaging service (0845 602 1111) between about 10 and 10.45 in the morning. Like others have said, the messages tell me there's a package waiting at Maplin, but they don’t mention which branch. They also said the parcel would be kept until 14 July 2014 or something like that! I’ve never bought anything from Maplin, so this has got scam written all over it.

Nearly every other day, i see this number pop on my home phone. It claims its from a BT line and there’s supposedly a text for me. Ive never picked up tho, so no idea what it's about.

Somebody rang up saying they were from Maplin and mentioned there was a parcel to pick up, but I’m pretty sure it was a scam.
