03/07/2018 - Real RBS fraud dept got in touch. They first emailed me a few transactions I didn’t do, then called me personally (no robot voices) and mentioned some other suspicious charges too. Told me they’d cancel my card, send a new one and refund everything right away.

Looks like a scam to me. I got a couple of texts from this number and another one, plus an automated call from an 0800 number all claiming to be NatWest about my bank account. Problem is, I don’t even have an account with NatWest. The initial text came from a blocked number but said it was NatWest and warned to expect more messages from that number. They were talking about transactions I never made, nothing from my account at all! Definitely a scam. Best not to trust calls or texts from anywhere but the phone number on the back of your bank card or listed on NatWest’s official website.

Just like others mentioned, this is definitely legit. At first I doubted it because I’ve had trouble with my Nat West accounts before. I got a ‘y or n’ text from this 07860 number, then a message pretending to be from Nat West. Funny enough, when I got my Nat West statement I called the number on it. Turns out there was a suspicious attempt to charge £1.80 to my card - seems like the classic fraud trick, testing the waters with a small amount before trying to take more. They put me through to Nat West’s fraud team and they’ve since cancelled my card. Don’t ignore this kind of message, you could get caught out!

Just to be safe, I rang the number on the back of my card and asked about the text. They put me through to the fraud team and it turns out my card had been cloned by scammers. They cancelled it straight away, and now I’m waiting for a replacement to arrive.

I got a spoof text that looked like it was from my bank. I just took part in a Sky Broadband survey where they promised a bunch of freebies like face cream and whitening toothpaste, just charging postage. I clicked through and put in my card details (£2.95) and then got a text saying, “We need to verify a recent transaction on your card.
