Phone number ☎️ 03456002290 👆 is reported as a genuine HSBC contact number primarily used for online banking support, such as resetting passwords or activating secure keys. However, numerous users warn that this number is frequently spoofed by scammers impersonating HSBC fraud teams, attempting to extract personal and banking details through highly convincing calls. HSBC confirms they do not initiate such calls seeking sensitive information, advising customers to end suspicious calls and verify directly via official contact details on cards or statements. Scam calls using this number often claim fraudulent activity and pressure victims for codes or account details. While the line itself is legitimate, extreme caution is advised due to prevalent fraudsters exploiting its identity, making independent verification essential before responding.

We got this number from HSBC's official website and it’s legit, a genuine helpline in the UK. The questions they asked seemed completely normal too.

The number here is an official HSBC contact you’re meant to dial for services like setting up phone banking or getting a new secure key. HSBC themselves won’t ring you from this number. It’s made for customers to call the bank, not the other way round. If you get a call from this number, it’s almost certainly fraudsters faking it using number spoofing. You’ll find this number on HSBC’s website, letters and other official info, so don’t pick up if they’re calling you.

Yeah, I'm with the others on this - definitely a scam call. The guy said he’d quiz me with security questions but didn’t ask anything that actually matched the ones my bank has on file. Weirdly, when I call HSBC, their numbers always show up as HSBC on my phone, even if I don’t have them saved. But this number? No HSBC ID showing at all. Feels dodgy to me.

For sure it's HSBC. I called this number recently when I was trying to set up their app on my new phone and also to reset my password. It’s legit, not some sort of scam. I've personally used it just a few days ago.

Honestly, I don’t get why folks are saying stuff that isn’t true. This phone number actually belongs to HSBC - it’s one of those automated lines that send you a code to get the HSBC app working.

Watch out when calling this number. It’s actually a legit HSBC line (I just rang them to get a new security key), but I reckon the first time I called, someone might have tried to redirect my call for a scam. No clue how they pull that off. If you’re unsure, just hang up.

If this number rings you, be careful. They'll say it's HSBC warning you about suspected fraud on your account. Don’t wait - head to your closest branch or phone HSBC right away. It’s a smart scam from some very clever crooks. Don’t ignore it!

Complete scam!!! The guy had a proper English accent and called from the UK. He even knew my name and some details about my accounts, including my bank balance, which is why I didn’t hang up right away. What made me suspicious was when he asked me to create a code using the HSBC app. I did, and then got a text saying in big letters that HSBC would never ask for this code - that’s when I ended the call. I rang HSBC afterwards and they confirmed it was a scam. I’ve had loads of scam calls before, but this one was by far the most believable.

I just had a rather alarming call from this number. When the bloke on the other end began demanding that I enter my bank card’s last ten digits, I thought, hold on a moment. I replied, 'you haven’t really persuaded me that you’re from HSBC, so I won’t be continuing with this conversation'. He replied with a casual, 'Alright, no problem, goodbye then'. Feeling uneasy, I decided to contact HSBC through a verified number and recounted the ordeal to them. They reassured me that the call was indeed legitimate. The woman informed me that any call sourced from a number starting with 0345 is linked to HSBC's fraud department. So there it is, all sorted!

Some guy called Andrew Johnson claiming to be from HSBC Fraud dept. As soon as I told him I’d had similar calls before and that I’d ring HSBC direct, he just hung up on me. If you dial the number they left, it sounds legit but it’s not. The real fraud team number is different and HSBC confirmed I hadn’t made any calls or had any suspicious activity that day. Definitely a scam, I’ve blocked it.

They claimed to be Michael Moore from HSBC. I keep all HSBC numbers saved and this one came up just as a normal number, no HSBC tag. They said it was about a transaction attempt. If it was legit, I don’t get why HSBC wouldn’t just send a text asking customers to get in touch via their official lines. I called HSBC’s secure Telephone Banking and they had no info on anyone called Michael Moore or any transaction alerts from either Credit Card or Fraud departments. This number smells fishy and could be really risky.

Got a call from this number at like 8 in the morning but my answerphone picked up instead. I rang back and the voice on the other end sounded exactly like HSBC, asking for my sort code, account number, dob and all that. Told me to enter details and stuff which seemed pretty fishy so I just hung up and phoned the number on the back of my card. The real HSBC had no clue about any call. They claimed to be from HSBC fraud department (and the number appeared to be a legit HSBC one) but these scammers use software that makes it show as if they’re calling from that number. They told me some strange direct debits were trying to be set up and tried to get my login details to “fix” it. When I said I’d call back to check, they didn’t want to wait and insisted they’d ring me instead. Watch out, they’re really convincing and pushy. WARNING!!! This number is linked to scammers pretending to be from HSBC. I contacted HSBC’s fraud department and they confirmed that the caller on 03456002290 was definitely a fraudster. They use clever tricks: if you’re suspicious, they send you text messages featuring old, fake HSBC msgs to make it seem like their 0345 number is genuine. Once they realise you’re onto them, they quickly erase all the texts. Such nasty people. Hope this warns others. M

Today I got a call from someone claiming to be from HSBC. He said money was taken from my account and to get it back, I just needed to tell him the answer to my online security question and create a secure code. Got a call from 03456002290 claiming to be my bank, said there was some fraud happening. They told me to google the number to check it was real. Answered loads of their questions, then when I logged onto my account, all my savings were gone.

If it's HSBC calling me, I've got to wonder why on earth they’re reaching out. I don’t even hold an account with them, which makes the whole thing feel a bit suspicious, to say the least.

03456002290 called me claiming to be from HSBC. They said something about changes to how I use my HSBC debit card online and wanted me to click a link. The link looked like a jumble of random letters and numbers, super sus. I got in touch with HSBC’s fraud team and they told me they never send emails like that. I ended up forwarding the phishing email to HSBC. Really dodgy stuff, just another trick by scammers trying to steal your cash.

DON’T PICK UP! Total scam, no doubt about it. My other half got fleeced out of £60 and they almost got complete control of her bank stuff. They kept going on and on, but they got nervous when I pressed them. When we said we'd sort it out at the branch, they started spouting rubbish about not getting any money back from the fraudsters, which is just nonsense. If they contact you with this, just log into your account and lock it down yourself immediately.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HSBC UK asking for my bank info. I didn’t give them anything and just ended the call. Then I rang the official HSBC customer service to check, and they confirmed it was a scam. Always best to be careful!

I should have guessed straight away it wasn’t really HSBC - they never send texts like that. I called the number back and when they asked me twice for my account number, I knew it was dodgy and just hung up. Then I phoned HSBC on the proper number and they had to block my account and send me a new card. Definitely don’t pick up or call that number.

I've seen this number mentioned in emails claiming to be from HSBC about online banking. When I looked it up here, it seems to be a fake number so I've flagged it as risky. Someone else apparently contacted HSBC about it and they confirmed it's definitely a scam. I'm sending the email on to HSBC so they can take a look.

This number is definitely part of a scam. I had 10k deposited into my bank from a friend’s account, then I got a call asking me to move the money to another account. It raised red flags so I rang HSBC and they confirmed it’s a proper scam. Just a heads up to everyone!

I got a text supposedly from HSBC saying there was suspicious activity on my account. Thing is, I don’t even have an HSBC account, so it’s clearly fake. If you ring the number, it’s a scam trying to steal your bank info. Watch out for this!

I dialled the number listed on HSBC's legit website, but the person who picked up had a really dodgy accent. She kept asking loads of private details and then just put me on hold for ages with no response. I'm pretty sure this number’s been hijacked by some scam group from India.

This number really belongs to HSBC. HOWEVER, lots of bank numbers have been faked (cloned/spoofed) by scammers to trick even the most careful people. So if you’re contacted by your bank, don’t say or do anything right away - use your common sense before replying. If you’re unsure, just hang up, make sure the call has ended, then ring your bank using the number on the back of your card. One thing about HSBC is their phone support is pretty awful at the moment (check out TrustPilot reviews), so expect slow service and unhelpful answers, but it’s way safer than getting scammed.

This number is a total scam, it's not the legit HSBC. They even did a fake online search to trick you. The genuine HSBC number is way different, just call the one on your card, bank statement, or official docs. Banks never send texts from normal mobile numbers, so don’t ever click links in text messages. Always use your banking app or official site instead.
