They said it was the TSB fraud department but when I checked the TSB website the number they gave didn’t match up at all.

I called back the TSB fraud squad at 0800 096 8669 to double-check and it really was them, even tho I saw some people saying it’s a scam number. Best thing is just to hang up and ring their official number yourself to be safe. Someone was tryna do a big payment on my card without me knowing, and they managed to stop it just in time.

I've unfortunately been caught out by a scam just like this and ended up losing £30,000 to a fraudster, it’s not something I’d want anyone else to experience. The number itself is a real TSB one, and if you call it, you will get through to TSB. That said, when TSB calls their customers, the number always shows as withheld, never a visible number. So if you get a call showing a ‘TSB bank number’, it’s definitely not TSB but someone pretending by copying their number. Hope this info is useful for people.

kept ringing my mum non stop. utter con, claiming a payment via paypal was processed. absolute garbage. really feel bad for folks who dont know how to spot these fraudsters!

Got a call from a robot voice saying my name with a tiny pause. It claimed it was to warn me about fraud and told me to press any number to go on. I pressed a number and the voice kept going. Ended up hanging up - total scam.
