Hello there, I had a rather peculiar phone call on the 13th of December, 2018, around 3 in the afternoon. The caller claimed to represent Her Majesty’s Customer and Exercise, stating that I was purportedly in violation of some sort of legislation. They insisted that if I wished to evade the consequences, I should press 1 and follow whatever instructions followed. It didn’t take long for me to sense something was amiss, so I promptly ended the conversation. Do you have any advice on how to handle such dodgy calls? Cheers!

Got a call about 30 minutes back from some asian guy saying there was a warrant out for my arrest and id be taken today unless i paid up. Im an older woman with some health issues and i usually fall for stuff like this. Luckily, i remembered my son's advice to look up the number on this site first. Absolute scumbags. Hope they all catch some awful contagious illness.

Thank goodness I didn’t pick up! I’m always suspicious of calls from 0345 numbers and figured I’d have a quick look online. Turns out loads of other folks have had the same ring. Someone else on this site mentioned they’d just registered a new business with HMRC, same as me - all legit and sorted. Seems like they’re targeting fresh entries on HMRC or Companies House, which is what’s happening in my situation too! Not very happy about it at all.

So, I picked up and all I got was a recorded message about HMRC and some fraud linked to my details. They kept saying if I don’t do something soon, I might face a fine. Thing is, I haven’t done anything wrong, so I’m gonna get in touch with HMRC myself to clear it up.

Got a call from this number but I didn’t pick up. I noticed it’s been searched a few times already.
