There’s no way that was HMRC, they claimed I was owed a tax refund or something! It was in September, and the caller had a strong African accent. Total scam, don’t fall for it.

This definitely isnt HMRC. Got a call from some American bloke threatening me with arrest, but the audio was all muffled so I couldn’t catch what for. Ended the call straight away. Scam for sure.

This is definitely a scam claiming there's an "arrest warrant" out for me. It uses American words and a robotic American voice which feels off. What's worse, this number is actually shown as a contact we use to get in touch with HMRC, which makes it really worrying.

This has got to be a scam, they said I’m about to be arrested which is just nonsense. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number.

Just like loads of people here, I got a call from someone pretending to be 'HMRC'. An automated message said there was a warrant for my arrest due to unpaid taxes. Thing is, I've been retired for two years now.

Got a robo call saying there's an arrest warrant out for me about Tax Fraud. Said 'put me through to a person' and then just hung up. Would never hit One. Number showed as HMRC but it’s clearly a scam.

Just received an automated call from this number, obviously faked. The message was about a supposed arrest warrant for tax evasion. The voice sounded a bit American, which felt off. I pressed '1' out of curiosity and got connected to someone who was hard to understand and immediately asked for my personal info. I told them, “You’re calling me with threats,” and they just hung up. It’s really concerning how such calls could scare vulnerable folks into falling for this scam.

This is one of those HMRC scams claiming I’m facing legal action for dodging tax, but my payslips say different 🤷 Don’t be fooled by it.

I got a call from this number and it showed up as an official HMRC contact. BUT turns out it’s been spoofed by scammers. An automated American voice told me I had a warrant out for tax evasion and fraud. Complete rubbish. Just give it a miss and BLOCK it straight away!

Got a call from this number, no one spoke but they left a voicemail that was quite alarming, warning about heavy fines if taxes aren't paid. I knew straight away it was a scam, but I can see how it would scare a lot of people. HMRC really needs to know about this and shouldn’t be linked to that phone number.

Definitely a scam. I answered the phone just as I was pulling up outside my cafe, had some classic Bollywood tunes playing in the car. When I said hi, the person on the other end, who spoke with a thick Indian accent, said hello back. But the moment he must've caught the songs in the background, he hung up. Pretty sure it was a dodgy call.

A person claiming to be Officer Emily Wilson (or maybe Renson) from HMRC called me - the caller ID even said HMRC Child Credits and mentioned some legal action. I find that really fishy since I have no kids and would've got a letter if it was legit. Seems like a clever scam, especially now they can fake the caller ID.

Said it was from HMRC about child benefits. Didn’t pick up, but pretty sure it’s a scam - I’ve no kids and doubt HMRC would phone me directly like that. I’ve flagged it as risky since it somehow got past my phone’s spam filter, showing a caller ID that looked legit with HMRC’s number.

Someone rang me claiming to be from HMRC. The number seemed legit, but they said they needed to verify my details because of some fraud investigation and that the police would be in touch soon (yeah right). I rang this number after seeing it in a letter from HMRC, but when I called it while connected to WiFi, it showed up as Liliput Day Nursery on my phone. I recently got a letter from HMRC regarding the number 03453003900. It stated that I owed an overpayment of tax from the 2009-2010 period, which I've already settled. When I attempted to call the number for clarification, it rang once and then went silent as if someone had picked up, but no one spoke. Instead, I heard odd noises in the background, which set off alarm bells for me. Trusting my instincts, I decided to hang up.

Watch out!!! HMRC always gets in touch by letter if there’s a real issue. I got caught up in this scam about a warrant for my arrest because of my business shutting down. I broke down crying at the bus stop, called the school to sort things for my kid, phoned my ex, and even the police. Turns out it was a scam. When they called again, I was ready to lose it! How can anyone be so heartless? The guy who answered was Asian and just shrugged it off, like “so what”? Completely disgusting!!!

Didn’t quite understand all the stuff they said, but it was something about a warrant out for me and gave me some number. I’ve just blocked the call.

I rang this number since it was shown on the HMRC site and had a chat with someone official who helped me sort my question out. Can't work out how scammers are using the same number though.

Got a text again claiming HMRC wants to get in touch about my work tax credits? Not sure HMRC really texts ppl like that? If it was really important, wouldn’t they send a letter instead? I just ignored it lol

Someone said they were from HMRC and told me there was a warrant out for fraud. They told me to press 1 to talk to an officer and sort out a tax payment right away. I just hung up and blocked the number!

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC about income tax dodging and said they're going to arrest me. She told me to look up this number then ring her back. Also said something like "We don't need to prove our identity." I said no way I'm giving info on the phone, ask them to put it in writing.

Someone rang saying they were from HMRC and wanted to chat about my tax stuff? Seems fishy, I doubt they'd just phone me like that, sounds like a scam to me. People doing this kind of thing are really dodgy.

Got a call from 03453003900 telling me I was under investigation for tax fraud and if I didn’t press 1, I’d get a warrant and get arrested by morning. Def not a legit gov Tax UK number, they try to get into your bank info through your phone.

Got about five texts from this number on my phone saying they needed to chat about my Tax Credit renewal, which seemed strange because I doubt the Tax people would have my private mobile number. Usually, Tax Credits get in touch through official letters, not texts or emails. Best not to reply to these messages, they're probably a scam.

03453003900 keeps ringing me and they’ve now got my mobile number since it showed up on caller ID. I usually get these calls on my landline with all sorts of threats, but this time it’s on my phone. They use loads of different numbers but it’s always the same scary talk. Don’t ever do what they ask. I’ve spoken to the real HMRC before and they always say NEVER to share bank details or anything like that.

Total scam alert. The call came from a number that looks like it belongs to HMRC. I spoke to HMRC tonight and they told me they only call from private numbers and never about overpayments or threatening arrest. So defo a fraud.

Just got the same call, I didn’t press any option and ended the call immediately cos it felt like a scam. Happy I listened to my gut. Poor those who fall for it though. Surely if it were really HMRC, they'd send a letter or come round in person, right?

My bank let the payment go through and said I cant get a refund since I okayed it. PLEASE warn everyone you know!

Total con. Got one of those recorded messages saying I’ve got a warrant out for me or something. Funny thing is, when I checked, the number actually belongs to the real HM Revenue & Customs. Those scammers are proper crafty!

03453003900 just rung me too with the same scare story. They say there's a warrant for my arrest and to press 1. I didn’t do it, as my mum got this call a few years back. When I ignored it, they just ended the call.

Got a call claiming to be from HM Revenue & Customs saying I’d be arrested if I didn’t pay up. I know there's been loads of these IRS scams in the US, but this was my first run-in with the UK version. I was on my guard though. It’s worrying how they can spoof official HMRC numbers, and it’s probably even more terrifying for people who don’t know this scam has been going on in the States for ages like I did. If you get this call, don’t panic, just hang up straight away. Then report it here. You’re definitely not about to get arrested like they say.

Absolutely, I too received a dodgy call from this number. Just hang up and take comfort in the fact that you’re not facing any legal trouble. This con has been doing the rounds for ages, particularly with the IRS over in the States, and it seems they’ve finally made their way over here. While this number appears to be HMRC's legitimate line, it’s actually been spoofed. The real number that the scammer is using is cleverly concealed. Just a heads-up: if HMRC ever does reach out to you-which is rare-they would do so from a withheld number. So, even though this number looks official, feel free to block it without hesitation!

Just had a call from 03453003900 saying there was an arrest warrant for HMRC fraud. When I rang back on the same number it actually connected to the real tax credit office who told me never to share personal info. Proper scary how they use a legit number to trick people!

Just got a call like this, it's so funny that people actually believe it. HMRC doesn't have any right to arrest, and the police don't call you before arresting or do it over the phone. These scammers are a joke. Lol If they call you, just laugh and hang up straight away!
