REAL CALL FROM BARCLAYS - After getting two texts from Barclays, the second one wanted me to reply with Y or N. I felt suspicious so I phoned the Barclays Fraud Team myself. I didn't call the number back since it was a voicemail. Turns out it really was Barclays. They sent me a follow-up text asking if I’d authorised a payment of X amount to XX with card xxxx, replying Y or N. I checked my PayPal and saw two messages about this; if not fixed in 24 hours, I could raise it with the company and PayPal again. The payment had already gone through via PayPal. So, I replied Y and got another Barclays text saying it was fine to keep using my card. MY TIP: EVEN THOUGH IT WAS BARCLAYS, ALWAYS PAY FOR THINGS ONLINE USING PAYPAL!

Barclays tends to ring from loads of different numbers, and their fraud team never shares their caller ID openly. If you get a call out of the blue from your bank, it’s best to ring them back using the number on your card. Don’t just block a bank’s number if that’s who you use and always get on the phone straight away to confirm. Scroll up a bit on this thread and you’ll see all sorts of stories - don’t take any risks. These days scammers can fake pretty much any number a bank might use.

Got a call sayin there was suspicious stuff on my bank account! Sounded quite real, enough to make me worried.
