Got a call from a robotic voice saying there’s an issue with import tax fraud linked to me. It said if I didn’t press 1 to talk to their office, they’d send a warrant out. I just hung up and blocked the number straight away. Caller ID showed 0300 200 3978.

I just got a call from someone saying they were from Revenue and Customs, but when I checked, no services are linked to this number. Sounds pretty dodgy to me, the officials really ought to look into it.

This number popped up on my phone so I looked it up here first and then decided to let it ring out.

I got a call from the 0300 200 3978 number too. After I pressed 1 like they asked, a woman with a foreign accent answered. I questioned her about how I could trust she was genuine and where she was calling from. She claimed she was with HMRC at some central London office, but I can’t quite remember the exact location she mentioned. She told me to ring back using the number I’d just been called from. When I tried calling back, I got a message saying “there are no services currently running on this number.” Feels like a proper scam and pretty dodgy.

He called and when I asked how he knew who I was, he just said he didn’t need to prove anything. Then he warned me that if I didn’t answer his questions, the police would be at my door soon to arrest me for some tax fraud. Proper scary scam that one.
