I got a call from someone with a very stiff British accent claiming to be from HMRC, saying there’d been some tax fraud linked to me and if I didn’t hit 1, I’d be “arrested soon”. I just hung up straight away. Later, I tried ringing the number back, but it was just an automated message saying the number wasn’t in service. Seems like the number isn’t even active. Total scam alert - don’t press 1 or anything, they’re probably just trying to get your card details or something to “clear” the fake tax issue. Watch out for calls from 0300 200 3976.

Just like loads of others have pointed out, hang up straight away. It’s definitely a scam. The person on the other end is faking being from HMRC.

Got a call from a man with a British accent telling me it was HMRC saying there’s some tax fraud linked to me and if I didn’t hit 1, I’d be “arrested soon”. I just ended the call straight away and sent a message to HMRC on Facebook, waiting to hear back now. Definitely a scam. Number shown was 0300 200 3976.

Got a missed call from someone claiming to be from HMRC, but I didn't pick up. They left a voicemail with some sort of message, so I tried calling back, but it just said there was no service. Seemed a bit fishy to me.
