Got a call the other day from someone claiming to be from HMRC trying to pull a tax scam on me. Total rubbish, obviously just some dodgy scammer. Watch out for these types pretending to be official!

On the 6th of November, I got a voicemail from this number saying it was from HMRC. I didn’t bother calling back. After looking it up here, I found loads of bad reviews. Surely if HMRC really wanted to contact me, they’d use my email or postal address instead?

I let it ring out and the voicemail kicked in. Had a quick look at the number and yeah, it's some kind of scam. HMRC always sends a letter first, they don't just ring you up out of the blue.

She asked for my email, but I just said I’d rather not share personal details. When I asked if they could prove they were really from HMRC, she said no and then just hung up. I did confirm my name though when she asked.

Got a call from 0300 200 3880, said there’s a fraud case on me and I’d be nicked if I don’t press 1. Proper panicked, thought I might get arrested while out on my lunch break. Honestly, who would send a warning like that? It’s just a load of rubbish - these scammers seriously underestimate how gullible people are. Total muppets, wasting everyone’s time.

These scammers are proper wankers, don’t even bother with them. Tax people wouldn’t ring you up, they always send letters instead. They don’t go about threatening you like that either. Just ignore and block the number, good luck everyone! They’re total rubbish.

For months now, I’ve been receiving these annoying calls and have sent all the dates and times over to HMRE, but honestly, it feels pointless. Don’t ever press option 1, because if you owe anything, they’ll just send you a letter and might even try to take it straight out of your wages. Total hassle.
