I got a call from some bloke named Mike Foster using the “work number 8926802,” said I might get arrested if I don’t cough up some penalty. Now he’s ringing from +44 2039927710. When I told him my bank account was empty, he just hung up on me. Quite funny really!

I got a call from a Derby number starting with 01332 and was immediately told to press 1. Then this bloke who said his name was MIKE FOSTER, sounding like he was from India, got on the line. He claimed there was an audit flag on my tax and that two attempts had been made to deliver a letter about some tax evasion issue? I was proper confused as my tax stuff is all sorted. It felt a bit dodgy when he insisted I pay through REVOLUT instead of a normal bank. When I asked more questions, he just threatened that the cops would come to arrest me. Just a heads up to watch out for this scam.

I never pick up calls from strange numbers, particularly ones starting with 0300. There's no way HMRC would have my phone number, so I just ignore them.

These scammers kept calling my mum loads, who’s quite old, telling her she owed tax to HMRC and if she didn't pay on the spot, they’d send out a warrant. She got really scared and phoned me straight away. Honestly, these people are horrible. Mum’s retired and her tax stuff is straightforward and all sorted anyway. It’s just shocking that such things happen.
