Got a call like this, they claimed to be from HMRC saying there was a warrant out for me and that official documents had been delivered that needed my signature. They demanded £2200 and threatened I'd be arrested in an hour if I didn't pay. When I told them I didn't quite follow what they were saying, the guy got a bit hostile. Got loads of calls from what looked like HMRC, but the last few numbers kept switching up. Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, right? I asked them how I was supposed to trust that they really were, and they told me to look up their number online and ring back. Then they went on to say, "We're not here to prove who we are." I told them no way was I giving any details over the phone and asked for something in writing instead.
