Got a robo call from this number saying they were HMRC and there’s some scam involving my name. Then it told me to “press 1” to hear more. I just ended the call straight away! Got a call like that too, saying I had a warrant out for my arrest if I dont pay up. Claimed I owed back taxes. I was about to hand over the cash but thankfully I left my bank card at home. Make sure you inform the police if you get calls like this, they need as many reports as possible to catch these scammers.

Got a call from 03002003302 on the 19th of Nov, but I didn’t pick up. Then today, a different number, 03002003305, rang me. Same story as lots of others, a North American voice claiming to be from HMRC threatening to arrest me. I didn’t press any buttons like they asked.

Got a really creepy robot voice on the phone, sounded like it was mumbling and slurring like someone had a stroke. Said it was HMRC and I had to press 1 or I'd be arrested “soon”. Total scam, no doubt about it, HMRC don’t do calls like that. But I reckon they’ve somehow taken over a real HMRC number, so maybe don’t block it just in case you need to get through for something legit later. This happened to me a couple of months back too, got a voicemail from some robotic voice saying I owed taxes and to call them on the number they left. I showed it to a few colleagues before deciding to bin it. Then just yesterday, my phone rang and as soon as I caught that same robot voice, I just hung up straight away. I'm still not sure if I should block the number or just delete the call.

I got in touch with HMRC myself and they said they know about this scam going round. If you try to block the number, you might end up blocking a legitimate HMRC line as well because the scammers use the 0300 area code to hide their actual number. Don’t ever give out your name or address. HMRC wouldn’t ask for that on the phone and usually they send letters first. Plus, they only call you if you’ve asked them to ring you back.

Pressed one just to see what’d happen, and ended up with a cheerful guy from a call centre somewhere abroad asking how he could help. I just ended the call. SCAM alert! Don’t fall for it.

They claimed to be from HM Revenue and Customs and said the cops were outside an old address of mine with a warrant for my arrest. Supposedly there were mistakes on tax returns I supposedly sent in over the years, and they said I was wanted for tax fraud. Thing is, I’ve never filed any tax return ever. It was an Indian bloke who couldn’t even pronounce my name right. Complete con artists!!!

0300 200 3300 Called me saying they were from HMRC and the police were at an old address of mine with a warrant for my arrest. They claimed I messed up my last years tax returns and had a warrant for tax evasion. Problem is, I’ve never filed a tax return in my life.
