Got a call from 0300 200 2246 on the 31st of May, 2019 around 3pm. When I answered, there was just complete silence. Honestly, I’m just hoping I haven’t ended up with a massive bill cause I picked up the phone.

Got a call saying it was HMRC about some tax refund and to press 1. Don’t bother, just hang up straight away and block the number. It’s definitely a scam, probably trying to charge you a huge amount if you press anything. I’ve also emailed the number over to HMRC to let them know.

It was someone pretending to be HMRC, don’t pick up! Real HMRC always posts a letter first. They only know your address, they don’t have your phone number at all. So if they’re calling you on your mobile or home phone, it’s definitely a SCAM. Stay careful!

Just got a call on my phone today, Friday 31/5/19, around 1:50pm from 03002002246. I didn’t pick up cause I didn’t know the number. They try to trick people into pressing 1 saying there’s some fraud issue with HMRC. I’ve since blocked that number, so be careful if you get a call from them!

Heads up, this is a scam call! Don’t pick up, and if you do, never press 1 - just put the phone down immediately. An automated voice said there was a tax fraud issue from HMRC, but it’s fake. After getting the call, I rang HMRC at 0161 931 9070 to check, and they told me this is a scam. Official HMRC won’t call you from a 0300 number. The best move is to report the number straight to HMRC so their cyber crime team can track these fraudsters. Stay safe and block the number!

WATCH OUT FOR SCAMS! If you get a call like this, don’t pick up, and if you do, never hit 1. Just end the call right away. I got a message saying it was HMRC telling me I was involved in tax fraud - total rubbish. I rang HMRC straight after on their official number (0161 931 9070) to check, and they confirmed it was a scam. They also said HMRC would never phone from any 0300 number. It’s a good idea to report these calls directly to HMRC. They keep a record which helps their cyber fraud team catch these con artists. So please be careful and block the number as soon as you get these calls. - from a SCAM/ROBOCALL experience.
