Got a really annoying call from someone claiming they had data about whitegoods I supposedly bought from John Lewis over the past few years. On Tuesday 15 March 2022, I got a call from 02920958717. Felt a bit fishy since a genuine call wouldn’t be so robotic and vague.

I got a call from someone named Jacob, said he was from Domestic & General Insurance and had a pretty strong Asian accent. He came across as really nice at first, but when he started asking for my bank details, it felt a bit pushy. I hesitated but gave him my sort code. Then he wanted my account number as well, and I told him I wasn’t comfortable with that. He said he’d have his supervisor call me, but just after half a minute on the phone, I ended the call. I looked up the number on Google afterwards and found out it was a scam.
