I got a call from someone saying they were from Domestic and General insurance, telling me my appliance cover was nearly up and they could give me a cheaper premium because of no claims. I told the woman I don’t have any insurance with them, but she insisted my dad had a policy from three years ago. Thing is, my dad died over a decade ago. When I mentioned that, she just hung up on me straight away.

Got a call from a bloke claiming to be with Domestic Insurance, trying to tempt me with a 30% off on my renewal - even though it’s nowhere near time for that yet. He rattled off a list of appliances supposedly covered, even mentioning the washing machine, which I know I’m not insured for. That’s when I started doubting him. When I asked for the policy number, he gave one that was clearly wrong. Told him I wasn’t interested, and he said he’d ring back the next day, but never did. Fair warning, this guy was pretty slick with his talk.
