I just had a rather peculiar phone call from someone claiming to be addressing an issue with my computer, which is quite amusing as I don’t even possess one! The woman, who had a rather noticeable Chinese accent, insisted that some software I had supposedly downloaded was unsafe. She urged me to turn on my nonexistent computer so she could assist in sorting out the so-called problem. When I informed her that I didn’t have a computer, she countered with the notion that since I was online, I must own one. Quite baffling! After ending the conversation, I decided to look up the phone number and stumbled upon some rather interesting details.

I received a recorded message stating that £600 had just been dispatched to an overseas destination from my account a mere quarter of an hour ago. It prompted me to press 1 if I wished to authorise this action, while suggesting that I hit 0 to get in touch with the individual responsible for the message. Quite concerning, I must say!

Got two calls on 20th August. The first was about 4.19pm, but it just went to answerphone and they ended the call straight away. Then they rang again a minute later, saying they were doing a survey and asked if they were talking to me. I said yes, then they asked if my address was a certain place. I told them that address doesn’t exist anymore. After that, they went quiet and dropped the call. Definitely scammers. I've blocked the number now.

I got a call from some guy claiming there was an issue with my computer. I told him straight up he just found my name in some directory and didn’t know a thing about me or if I even owned a computer. Seemed like a total scam attempt. Honestly, he should be looking for a real job instead of wasting time. Got a call from some "Tech Support" claiming my computer was full of errors whenever I went online. It was a bloke with a strong East Asian accent. I just put my TV on loud for him to listen to, and eventually, he hung up the phone.

Some bloke rang claiming to be from BT OpenReach, saying there was an issue with my phone line. I hadn’t noticed any problems, nor had I reported anything. He insisted on hooking up a BT server to my laptop to run some diagnostics. I told him that sounded risky and asked for his phone number so I could ring back. He said he got why I was wary but claimed that was the only way to find the fault.

I received a call earlier from an Asian gentleman who claimed that my computer had been compromised while I was online. I told him that I had security measures in place and hung up. Got a call from an Asian lady while I was at my dad’s place, he’s 95. I answered because he wasn’t around. She claimed there was some issue with a computer download. Got a call from 024766885575 on the 20th August 2019, and there was a weird pause before anyone said anything. Normally if they don't speak quick, I just hang up. Couldn't really make out what the caller wanted, but he asked if I had a laptop or computer. I told him no (even though I do have them), then just ended the call.

somebody rang me claiming they were from switch & save working with openreach. he said he could help cut costs on our broadband and line rental and asked how much we were currently paying. i questioned him about where he was calling from, and he said coventry. when i pointed out the number didn’t look like a coventry one, he kept insisting their office was there. after pressing him more, he finally said he was actually calling from somewhere in se asia but still claimed to be based in coventry! at that point i just ended the call.
