I picked up my landline and this recorded voice said it was from Amazon. It told me my Prime subscription was going to renew automatically for £39.99, and if I wanted to speak to someone I should press 1. Pretty clear to me it was a dodgy scam.

So, this scammer keeps calling from the very same number since February, claiming they've been upgrading phone and broadband in the area and that means they can cut down your bill. The only good thing about it is how consistent they are with the number, making it simple to block them for good.

Got a call from some bloke with an accent saying it was about a phone bill I supposedly didn’t pay. To make it worse, he was using a totally different name! Told him he’d dialled the wrong person.

A lady answered when I said hello, but when I didn’t say anything else, she ended the call after about 10 seconds. These fraudsters don’t last long nowadays. This was the fourth scam call I’ve had so far. The earlier three were: 01498 435894 with some robotic voice about a MasterCard and £600, then 01438 318264 again about MasterCard and £600, mentioning overseas travel. Then 02476 685024 where a real woman spoke to me, but she gave up first. I’m curious who’s gonna ring next.

Sounds like it might be one of those auto-diallers from a sales firm or maybe a dodgy boiler room scam. If it’s a sales outfit, they’re not doing a great job with their call system - maybe they don’t have enough people taking calls or just don’t get how to run it properly! Either way, best thing to do is just block and ignore them, especially if it’s one of those scam crews.

Just got a call from this number, and the chap sounded like he was speaking with a bit of an accent, claiming he was with Switch and Save, talking about my phone bill. I ended up hanging up on him. In hindsight, I should’ve just said, “I don’t possess a phone!” - that would’ve left him rather perplexed!

Got a call from a lady with a strong Far East accent, real pushy and rude, saying she was from BT and offering to lower my phone bill. She kept cutting me off till I told her to shut up. She used the wrong last name for the account, so I reckon she pulled my info from that TalkTalk data breach months ago. She called again later from a different number, same woman. When I said I didn't think she was legit BT, she was quite rude and I just hung up. Never heard from her again. I'm guessing they were after bank info.

Got a call from a woman speaking with an eastern accent, real pushy and rude, saying she was from BT and trying to lower my phone bill. She kept cutting me off until I told her to quit. She used the wrong surname for the account holder, so I reckon she got the info from that TalkTalk breach a while ago. She called again from a different number not long after, same lady. When I told her I doubted she was with BT, she was quite nasty, so I ended the call. Never heard from her again. I'm sure they were after my bank details.
