Some numpty called saying my computer was having issues but couldn’t even tell me simple stuff like my IP address. Every time I asked something about the computer, he just ended the call. Proper frustrating!

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying my PC was uploading suspicious files while I was online. She mentioned the company was Tech Helpline, but when I checked, it turns out that firm no longer exists as per Companies House records. She hung up after that.

I got a call on 30/5/19 around 10 in the morning from a guy who sounded Asian. He said there was some problem with my computer and told me to open the event viewer. When I asked what exactly he wanted me to check, he just said to tell him what was showing on the screen. I said he should first explain what I’m supposed to be looking for, and then he asked if I wanted my computer repaired. So I asked him how he even knew it needed fixing and then he just dropped the call. Lol.

When I rang M&S Bank myself, they said they do run phone surveys occasionally but weren’t sure if these calls were legit. They thanked me for flagging it up and for not sharing any personal details with the caller.
