Over the past couple of days, they've rang me 5 times. After reading through all these comments, I figured I’d give it a go and pick up once, just for a laugh. They spoke my name and even mentioned the phone number I used to have. Said they were from Vodafone and asked how I was getting on with my phone, which I haven’t had for well over 8 months now, ha! Bit odd, right? Why would Vodafone be cold calling just to check in on your phone usage? Anyway, I soon got tired of the whole scam and just ended the call.

Pretty much sounded legit at first, but as soon as I checked this site, I knew it was dodgy. Got a call from a woman with an English accent saying she was from Curry's, told me I’d got a contract phone from them (which I never did). She mentioned my contract was up for renewal and tried to sell me a sim-only deal for £15 a month, starting straight away. When she said I'd stop paying my old contract from the next bill, that’s when I thought nope, this is fishy. Scammers are definitely getting clever - no more the usual Indian-accented calls, now it’s all posh English voices!

My mum got a phone call from this number saying they were calling from Currys, used to be Carphone Warehouse, and had a really good Vodafone contract deal for her. Got a call from this number, a bloke with a posh English accent saying he was from Carphone Warehouse. He claimed I was eligible for an upgrade and ran through loads of phones and offers they supposedly had. Sounded pretty legit but I was really sceptical since I still have two months left on my contract and would have to cough up £100 to upgrade. He insisted there was no upfront cost. Everyone, this is 100% a con!! I just rang Currys and they confirmed it. Don’t give this bloke any personal info, he’s up to no good. He phoned me saying he was from Currys, claiming they’d taken over Carphone Warehouse - which is totally false. When I called him out, he said his name was Jack Menoph, but I’m sure he just made that name up. Best thing to do is hang up right away and report the number to Action Fraud. Currys never do cold calls, not ever. Stay sharp and watch out. Also, any reviews here saying it’s legit are most likely the scammer trying to cover his tracks.
