Got a call from some bloke in a call centre, his English was all over the place. He said he was calling from O2 with a 30% discount deal, then asked who my provider was and how much I was paying. I asked if he didn’t already know my provider, and he said, “You’re with O2, that’s why I’m calling. Are you still with O2 or have you switched?” I told him I wasn’t looking to switch and just hung up.

Got a call from a survey group linked to the local housing association, they already had my name and just asked if I was happy with my housing on a 1-10 scale. Didn't ask for or share any other info. Honestly, they came across as quite professional.

They say they’re from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, but it really feels dodgy. They call pretty much every day, and when you look up the people they say they are, it’s not right. Definitely a clever con.

Got a call from 02080495759, they claimed it was about my business VAT. I said they should get in touch with my accountants instead and gave the name of the firm. They asked to ring back later for details but I told them again to deal with my accountant. Feels like I handled it properly. Definitely another scam.

A bloke rang up pretending to be from the council and asked my missus about people’s ages. We’re both over 70, but he didn’t know that. Funny thing is, I’d just read something about councils collecting info like that.
