Got a call claiming to be from HMRC, pushing hard to get me to pay up. The details they mentioned were for DEEPTHI MARINERI with sort code 60-84-07 and account number 20070957. Definitely a scam trying to rush you!

Got a call from some dodgy people pretending to be from HMRC on the 1st of May 2025. They were putting my wife under loads of pressure, telling her to log into her account and pay right away, saying she’d get the cash back by the end of the day. I just told them to shove off. What a load of idiots!

I got tricked today. They told me to look up the gov.uk site and then ring a number from there, which sounded legit at first. Ended up sending £495 and now I’m trying to get my money back. It’s crazy - how is it possible they’ve been using that same number scamming folks for like five years?

This scam is seriously risky and sounds pretty believable at first, but once you think a bit it all falls apart. They start by asking for your name and postcode, then tell you you owe money to HMRC for unpaid tax and that an arrest warrant is about to be issued. They even warn you someone will be knocking at your door in 40 minutes! Best thing to do is just hang up or quiz them on your street number - they won't know it just from your postcode. Honestly, HMRC would never ring you up to say they’re sending someone round with an arrest warrant so quickly.

Today I got a call from this number, and it was definitely a scam! They also rang me using +44 20 3967 5680, which was the first number I saw. When they phone, it shows up as coming from the "courthouse" and displays an official government number that you can find on a legit website they tell you to check.

I got a call initially from 07303843944, and when I mentioned the line was poor, they rang me back on the same number. When I asked who was calling, they gave me a name and a badge number, telling me to look them up on Google. They were pretty convincing, but I felt something was off so I ended the call. Definitely be cautious with these sorts of calls.

BE CAREFUL, THIS IS A SCAM! I almost got caught out by someone claiming to be from the court, saying I'd get arrested and sent to jail if I didn't pay up. Best thing to do is just hang up and don’t give them any info to keep safe.

I’ve just received a call from someone claiming to be with the HMRC's Tax Fraud division, insisting that I’m guilty of tax fraud and stating that I'll be arrested unless I settle my so-called debts immediately. He seemed to know I had recently switched jobs and had all my company information, which made me think he might actually be from HMRC. He threatened that if I didn't pay the funds he claimed I owe, the police would show up with an arrest warrant, alleging I’m facing five counts of fraud. Naturally, I rang my mum for advice since I'm still a student, and she looked into this phone number. Is this honestly a scam?

I just received a rather alarming phone call from a woman sporting an American accent who threatened me with some sort of prison time if I didn’t cough up some cash. Just got a dodgy call from this number claiming to be from HMRC. They were insisting it was a matter of urgency and that I could face court action. Apparently, I've supposedly missed some letters that were returned to them, which is why they're threatening legal action. They gave me a choice: either go to court or cough up a fine. The blokes had thick Indian accents and the line was really poor. Please, take a moment to consider - HMRC will never demand payment over the phone. Just hang up and be sure to report it to the fraud department on the HMRC site.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC, saying I owed them money and that if I avoided paying my taxes, I could get arrested. They told me I could set up a monthly payment plan and that I needed to put down a part of the amount straight away, or else they’d report me as a criminal. I ended up getting scammed out of £300, even though they were actually trying to get me to pay around £2,500.

I rang my missus from work but used a different phone number by mistake. Weird thing is, this number looks exactly the same as one listed for the civil court of appeals on the Government’s site, so she thought it was legit. Ended up getting scammed for £2500. We’ve already told the cops. Can’t wrap my head around how that number is on a Gov website though. Maybe it’s something to do with the area code being similar to a mobile number or something.

My partner got a call from someone saying she owed nearly £2000 for immigration taxes and if she didn’t pay up, they’d sort out an arrest warrant. Luckily, I got back just as the call was getting serious and stopped it. They obviously thought they had her, cuz they rang again. I told them straight they were scammers and joked about the arrest warrant. No cops have turned up, of course. Those idiots really upset her - she was crying and scared after the call. I just hope they watch their backs, coz if I track them down, it won’t end well for them.

I got a call from this number too. At first, it showed up as a mobile, which seemed odd, so I asked about it. Then he rang me again and switched to an 020 number. He was really pushy, saying I couldn't speak to anyone because it would mess with a criminal investigation. I managed to put him on hold and quickly checked with my work, who confirmed it was a scam. Below, you’ll find info on how to easily report all those scam texts, calls, emails and other dodgy things thanks to a system set up by the cyber crime police. I only got told about it after moaning to my MP about the endless scam calls I kept getting. It seems the scammers are keen to keep this a secret. If you don’t actually report them, don’t expect any action to be taken. Just blocking calls or reporting them to 7726, your network, Ofcom or the companies being spoofed won’t do much, as those reports don’t usually make it to the police or the official fraud investigation setups.

Got a call from this number about some HMRC problem. The bloke spoke with an Indian accent and said I had to use Revolut to sort out a payment. He ramped up the pressure, making it sound like a serious court case, then kind of 'set the scene' so he could talk non-stop. He told me I was being recorded for court and warned me not to interrupt or it’d look bad if played in court. Kept going on about having direct links to 'the court', and demanded I pay up to avoid it. Heard there’s been a similar number ringing around Brighton just before this one turned up.

These scams using fake or spoofed UK landline numbers really need to be tackled by the authorities. I saw a post a little while ago explaining how to report them, and I followed the steps myself a few years back. I even got a reply, which was quite unexpected, but honestly, it’ll take loads of MPs pushing for their voters before anything proper gets done. In the meantime, Parliament's still busy with their usual stuff, plus all the Covid, Brexit, unrest, and the awful state of the economy.

She’s been involved in scamming through broadband, mobile contracts, loans and catalogues. On top of all that, she's quite into swinging, enjoys group activities, and oddly enough, insists you ring her mum first.

Got another call from a bogus HMRC number. Honestly, the government really needs to do something about these scammers and the whole number spoofing mess.

Watch out for Lisa Murray Degisi, she's behind this con. Drives fancy cars and lives in a massive place, but trust me, she’s not earning it the straight way. Do a quick search on her and let her know she’s known now. If she gets nosy, just say something about a red Toyota, some photos, a microwave and a pair of sunnies.

I didn’t trust him one bit. When I caught on, he claimed he never asked for any cash. I ended up calling him out for lying. It’s so frustrating that this number is still active, bothering loads of folks. He rang me again afterwards, and I’ve reported both of the numbers now.

I received a call today from someone claiming to be from HMRC, an Indian chap with a strong accent and quite poor English. He started interrogating me about tax evasion! Honestly, it’s ludicrous. There’s no way this is a legitimate HMRC call!

Some bloke pretending to be from HMRC called me, so I told him to pop out and get something for his aching wrist. Didn't seem to go down too well with him!

Some bloke called Simon York claimed to be from HMRC telling me I owed nearly £2000 in unpaid tax. I've worked for the same government-linked company for over a decade, so this seemed wrong straight away. He threatened to block my bank account and cancel my driving licence if I didn’t pay up. I just ended the call and he kept ringing another five times, but I ignored them all. The number I saw on my phone from the automated message was 01332 397517, then the later calls came from 0207 947 6139.

Some woman with a strong accent claiming to be from HMRC rang me, but her English was so poor I struggled to follow what she said. She was telling me I had an arrest warrant over unpaid tax or something like that. It did sound a bit believable at first, but honestly, just hang up and contact HMRC directly if you’re worried.

My daughter, who’s quite vulnerable, got a call from these awful people who said they’d take her to court unless she paid £1000 straight away. Such nasty, cruel folks.

Watch out, this is a HMRC scam. They said I was under investigation for tax evasion after ignoring their letters, and now there’s apparently a court case plus an arrest warrant out for me. I called the police, and turns out it’s a common trick where they want you to pay using gift cards. I mean, since when did HMRC ask for Amazon vouchers? Doesn’t sound right at all!

I got a call from someone pretending to be from HMRC, saying I owed back taxes and accusing me of evading tax. They were really aggressive, telling me I could either get arrested or just pay up on the spot. When I asked for any proof or details about the supposed tax owed, they refused to share anything and just kept pushing me to pay right away. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

The first time I got a call was from 020 0200 4328, around 1:15 in the afternoon. The person on the other end told me I was about to be arrested unless I paid £1780 for supposed tax evasion, saying that if I paid, my name would be cleared. It felt a bit too pushy and weird for a government office to ask for money like that over the phone, so I just ended the call. After that, I started getting calls from other numbers like 02079476139, and one guy even tried to pass himself off as a police officer, questioning why I hung up and insisting I needed to pay up.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC Tax, this woman sounded proper rude and was threatening me with jail time if I didn’t pay some tax straight away. Bit odd since I just got a tax refund through. I almost fell for it. When I asked if she could send me the details by post so I could see it in writing, she actually said she'd ring the cops on me! Honestly, watch out for these types.

I received a call from an international number claiming that they'd obtained my contact details through a mate of mine, which frankly, seems utterly implausible. This definitely reeks of a scam. I wouldn’t take any of it seriously - steer clear! - caller: +442079476139

Watch out for this number, nearly caught me out. They were pretending I owed some money to revenue and said I had two choices, either face court or settle some supposed unpaid tax. They seem quite clever and try hard to persuade you to pay up, warning about going to prison if you don’t.
