total scammer. I said I was from the fraud team that tracks phone numbers, finds where they are, and sends police to catch the callers. They ended the call super fast.

Got a message pretending to be O2 asking for some promo code they supposedly sent me. The text said not to share the code with anyone, even O2 workers. When I repeated what the message said back to them, they kept pushing me to hand over the code! Totally a scam trying to get into my O2 account.

Got a call saying I could get 50% off my o2 bill. The lady on the phone said her name was Chris and spoke with a strong Asian accent. I asked where she was calling from, and she said Bath Road in London. When I tried to get her postcode, she abruptly ended the call. O2 seems to be a common target for these types of calls. It's really frustrating that this keeps happening, as they’re probably not even in the UK but using some software to fake their number, while they’re actually thousands of miles away.

Some bloke called Max or whatever, sounded Indian, said he was from O2. He was going on about loads of complaints about the service and tried to tempt me with a 40% discount. I pretended to be interested, told him I was fine with my service, and then just hung up on him.

BEWARE OF SCAMS! If you get scam calls, text the number and details of the scam to 7726. For scam texts, just forward them to 7726. This helps your phone provider flag the number as suspicious. Don’t send genuine company numbers there though! Also, it’s smart to take screenshots of scam messages and email them to the police at '[email protected]' to help with their investigations. If you’ve given out bank info by accident, make sure to tell your bank and report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 straight away. Stay safe everyone!

I got a call from a bloke with a foreign accent, saying he was from O2 and that there were some issues reported on my line. I haven’t seen any problems myself, but he wanted me to verify the number he’d just dialled and mentioned he’d send me two texts - one supposedly with a special 6 digit code. This call was a total scam. The person on the line claimed they were from O2 and mentioned there were loads of problems with the network lately, plus lots of complaints from customers. They said they’d give me a 20% discount on my bill and wanted to send me messages so they could sort it out. Thing is, I don’t even have O2 as my provider. I told them they should have my info already and could just apply the discount themselves, but they insisted they needed details from me first. Definitely dodgy!
