I received a rather curious call claiming to be from Currys Mobile-though I wasn’t even aware they offered mobile services! The person on the other end was pushing me to consider upgrading my phone, but the thick Indian accent combined with a cacophony of noise made it quite the struggle to follow along. When I inquired how they obtained my number, they promptly ended the call. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

I received a phone call from someone who said they were from Carphone Warehouse. The chap had quite a thick accent, although it didn’t sound Indian. I informed him that I was busy at work and unable to engage in a sales pitch at that moment. He accepted this and promptly hung up. Given that I've seen similar reports from others about calls purporting to be from various companies, I suspect this may well be a dodgy operation. Just thought I’d share my experience in case it aids anyone else.

I received a call from a chap claiming to be Harry with O2, who told me I could snag a 50% discount on my bill for the entire year. He even sent a text with a code, asking me to read it back to him. I decided to hang up after that.

The call was pretty confusing, with a lot of noise in the background and the person had an Asian accent. I never requested a call from them anyway, so I just blocked the number.

Years ago, I contacted Bloomberg as a developer to set up an academic account, which required my mobile number along with my email. Not long after, I heard they had a data breach affecting their client info. Ever since, I’ve been getting calls from scam forex trading firms using bogus UK numbers. Some of these companies are based in Cyprus, others in the UK - some are even genuine businesses, but most aren’t. I reckon they must have somehow obtained Bloomberg’s client list. Honestly, it’s best not to answer these calls; nothing good ever comes from engaging with them.

Received a call from someone claiming to be Sam, but the connection was dreadful - definitely not from London, more like a number masquerading from afar. It’s quite easy to spoof these days, isn't it? I couldn’t catch much of what Sam was saying; it was all quite garbled. In the end, he seemed to lose patience and hung up. I gathered something about “Sam from autoelectric”, but it had all the classic signs of a nuisance call, as usual.
