BEWARE! Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming I was owed a refund from Amazon Prime (which I’ve never even signed up for). I played along for a bit out of curiosity. Then she asked for my bank info to process the “refund.” I pointed out that if money had been taken, they should already have my details. Before I could say anything else, she just hung up on me. Such a scam!

Got a message saying they were taking £79.99 from my bank, sounded dodgy. I pressed 1 on purpose and spoke to a woman who asked if I wanted a refund. Then she asked if it was for a computer or a phone. I started recording the call. After a few minutes, I told her the call was being recorded and the police were listening. She didn’t sound too pleased and hung up. Classic scammer - they don’t like it when the tables are turned on them!

Then she started asking for my internet details to send a refund, but I told her everything would already be on record. Could tell the police were eavesdropping cause she sounded annoyed and cut the call. These lot are ripping off loads of vulnerable folks.

Anyone getting calls like these in London needs to report them straight away to the police. That so-called Amazon call is really risky. They won't just take £79.99, sometimes they try to swipe £799 or even higher amounts. If you accidentally pay anything, get in touch with your bank quick as a flash. Don’t hang about on the phone - scammers might try to lock your phone or PC so you can’t call anyone else or get through to help. Remember, genuine firms don’t sort refunds through phone calls. Just hang up, they’ll probably try ringing you again. Stay sharp!

Beware, this is a SCAM! If you get any dodgy calls or messages, make sure you report them straight to the police fraud website. Just search for ‘action fraud’ and head over to the police.uk page. Find the section for reporting phishing and read all the info there first. Then fill out the form with as many details as you can, like URLs or phone numbers. You don’t need to sign up or give personal info unless you’ve actually lost money through the scam. The more people report these attempts, the better chance the police have to track and stop these crooks. Don’t ignore it!
