Got a call from 02038960420 claiming to be from Inland Revenue, but that sounds dodgy to me. There's no such department called Inland Revenue these days, it's HMRC now in the UK. Also, the person on the phone had an American accent, which just doesn’t add up. The worst part was when they said "then get ready to face the consequences" - that’s not how HMRC or any official UK agency talks. Pretty obvious scam if you ask me.

Everyone should be aware that HMRC don’t ring you up first, they always send a letter asking you to get in touch with them. Plus, I haven’t got any tax debts, so there’s absolutely no point why they’d be calling me. I never engage with an automated voice or keep the call going. I just hang up and block the number immediately. If it was really HMRC, they’d have sent a letter, simple as that.
