I got a call from someone saying they were doing a survey, but it was aimed at older people who get loads of calls like this all the time.

Had a call today from someone claiming to be Opinion 2 Safe. They asked me to verify my postcode and phone number. Thing is, they already had the postcode wrong. When I wouldn’t give them my current postcode and asked them to explain more about the company, they just ended the call on me. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

Don't just get annoyed, fight back! The first thing to do is sign up your UK mobile or landline number with the TPS (Telephone Preference Service). After 28 days, it's against the law for companies to ring you up without your prior permission. If you get a call after that period, simply ask for the name of the company calling you and tell them you’ve registered with TPS and will report them to the ICO and Ofcom. Whether they give you the company name or not, report the number they used to those authorities. This will block legitimate UK firms from pestering you, but sadly it might not stop every single unwanted call. Remember, when these callers ring, your only replies should be: A) What company are you from? B) I'm on the TPS list and will be reporting you. Hope that helps! :) - caller: Survey

Looks like it’s that People's Opinion lot again, the number rings a bell. I wasn’t home to answer. They don’t seem to care one bit though. Even after kindly asking them to take my number off their list, John, Jerry, Yvonne and Peter keep ringing as if they’re sitting beside the Thames or the Nile. They never bother to say who they are before asking “can I speak to X?” Honestly, I’m tempted to reply with a rude blast just to see if they'd finally stop.

For the past four days my phone has been ringing non-stop with the same woman on the other end wanting me to take part in some survey. Each time I say, "We don't do surveys here, sorry," and hang up. Three days ago, she called again and I gave the same answer, quite annoyed by now. Then just two days ago, I picked up and sure enough, it was the same lady asking about the survey. I told her, "Mrs Randall has passed away," but she just asked if I was a family member who could do the survey instead. I said no and ended the call. This morning at half past nine, she rang once more, going on about the survey like nothing had happened. I told her again about Mrs Randall being dead, and she repeated the question about family members. I couldn’t hold back and said, "Seriously, after all I’ve told you, don’t you have any sympathy?!" Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent who spoke really slowly, said she wanted a couple of minutes for a survey. She got my name and address totally wrong, so I just made up some rubbish - Angus Copperpot from 81 Gooley Bridge, Potterington. After me repeating myself over and over, it still took almost two minutes before she even tried asking anything, but never got to the first question! Hung up on her - what a waste of time, total scammer.

Nearly every weekday afternoon around 12 to 2pm they ring, but nobody ever answers. The call just stays connected for about five minutes before it drops off. It's like they never actually talk to anyone.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent saying he was doing a survey about homes. I asked if there was any payment involved, and he just replied, "it's a household survey." I told him my time's valuable and ended the call straight away.

Had a call from this number for the first time and figured it would be another one of those annoying scam calls from scammers in Asia. Told them I was Deepsh** Patel representing the Consumer Survey Panel, and guess what? They just cut me off! Can't imagine why that happened ;-)
