Got a call from Three Mobile about upgrading my phone - mate, it’s a total rip-off, nothing but a scam!

Got a call earlier from someone claiming to be from Three, offering to lower my existing £70 monthly plan to £40 a month if I upgraded to a Galaxy Z Fold. They’d sent an email beforehand, but it was full of mistakes and didn’t even mention who was calling. The bloke on the phone sounded annoyed when I asked if this was some kinda scam. I still have a year left on my current plan, so why would Three suddenly offer me a much pricier phone at half the price? Plus, he started asking for my bank details - that was a massive red flag. When I queried why he needed them, he told me to “transfer money to another account and send the empty account details” - complete nonsense! Definitely don’t trust these calls; they’re just after your bank info.

They said they were with Three Mobile but insisted they could arrange the contract with any network. The deal sounded way too good to be real. The people on the phone had thick Indian accents which were hard to follow. They wanted £40 upfront before sending the phone. Feels like a total scam to me.

This is a classic con. If you fall for it, they’ll send a completely different phone than what you ordered, then ask you to send it back. After that, they disappear completely, and chances are they’ll use your info to get a contract in your name without you knowing.
