02036349842 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02036349842 👆 is reported as a persistent nuisance caller linked to telemarketing and dubious surveys, often ignoring the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). Callers frequently identify as various businesses such as Activate Now or Better Business Group but provide little clarity, quickly hanging up or refusing to state their purpose. Many report rude or aggressive behaviour, repeat calls multiple times daily, silent calls, or attempts to obtain personal and financial details under the guise of surveys or household evaluations. The calls cause significant distress, including to vulnerable individuals, and are often suspected to be phishing or scams. Blocking the number or using call-screening technology is advised, as official complaints and TPS registration appear ineffective against these frequent, intrusive calls.

Got another annoying call from them, always at the exact same time daily. They really oughta be charged for each one they ring me. I'm proper fed up with these constant calls.

Got a call from this number around 1:10 this afternoon. The person said they were from Consumer Solutions and asked if I subscribed to Sky. When I asked where exactly they were calling from, they replied 'Oxford'. I asked for their phone number, and they started saying 020 before suddenly hanging up. I used 1471 to check the caller ID. They didn’t even bother to find out if I was interested! Pretty fortunate, as I definitely wouldn’t have been. I’m sending a complaint to the ICO right now.

Got a call from this number earlier today. The lady on the line claimed it was a survey. She seemed quite polite but I was a bit cautious, so I kept my voice calm but not unfriendly. I was trying to be nice and play along, but when she asked if I rented or owned my place, I said I’m 20 and still living with my parents since I’m a student. She just cut me off right away. Proper annoyed, because I was actually being polite for a change and she turned out to be so abrupt. I wouldn’t pick up if I were you.

I picked up the phone and a lady said they were doing a survey. When I asked who the survey was for, all she said was they needed help with it. Then when I asked where they got my number from and who exactly they were, the call just cut off.

Got a call from a lady with an accent I couldn’t place, asking about my shopping preferences. I told her I never take part in surveys coz they just lead to loads of annoying marketing calls. She hung up on me straight away - not that I’m upset. I’m on the TPS register but it doesn’t seem to stop these pest calls much.

Got a ring from this number earlier today and I reported it straight away to my phone company, Virgin Media. I gave all the info to the customer service person, but they said there’s no way to block calls from it. Does anyone know how to actually stop these annoying calls? They were trying to do one of those surveys, but I’m not falling for it cause I know they’ll just keep hassling me with calls from other businesses afterwards. Honestly, I just wish they’d stop bothering me altogether.

They're switching things up now, claiming they'll give you a call blocker to help with spam calls. First, they ask for your name and address, then check if you pay your BT bill by Direct Debit, and next, they want you to have your credit card ready with a particular expiry date! I’ve already got a call blocker and plan to block this number - it’s just another trick to fish for your banking info. Watch out!!

Today I got a call from a woman named Emily, she claimed to be from Activate Now. This number rings my house nearly every day but I’m usually not in. When I was home this time, she started asking all sorts of questions. I warned her I’d take legal action if my details ended up on any websites causing strangers to ring me. She then quickly hung up. When I checked the number with 1471, it played a message saying if I wanted off their list, I should call 08005244309. That number said it was from Consumer Experts but when I tried to leave a voicemail, it was full. I’m really keen to find out who’s been sharing my home number with these companies because I plan to use the new laws to sue for the harassment my family and I have suffered, not to mention the negative impact all these endless calls have on our everyday life.

Got a ring today (15th June 2018) around 6:15 in the evening. It wasn't one of the usual sales spiels, just a bloke with a foreign accent asking “Is your central heating on?” I said “Yes, thanks!” and then they just cut off. I was meant to be enjoying a quiet day off and ended up getting hit with five different cold calls that totally wrecked my chill time. If I manage to track down their location or email, I’ll definitely be making sure they get a taste of their own medicine. Absolute rubbish.

Got a call from Better Business Group claiming they were contacting me because there had been loads of annoying calls around here. They said if I answered their questions, I could get my number put on their no-call list. The woman began by asking stuff like my age and job, which honestly felt just like the usual telemarketers. I told her that, but she insisted they needed that info to take me off their list. Then she asked if I was alright with getting calls, texts, or post from their sponsors, and that’s when I just hung up.

Had a call from a woman with a foreign accent at around 2pm today. She wanted to speak to someone who apparently used to have this number. I asked her who she was and what the call was about, and she claimed to be from the Better Business Group. I told her the person she was after no longer lives here, but she said it wasn’t important and asked if she could chat to the homeowner about heating. Honestly, I could barely catch what she was saying. I told her I wasn’t interested in heating services and then she just ended the call on me.

From what I’ve gathered, these calls usually come from abroad, but somehow they show up as coming from a UK number - no idea how they pull that off. The whole point seems to be to get you to ring them back, either out of curiosity or just to check, and then you end up paying a hefty premium charge. That’s how they profit. BT always says there’s nothing they can do about it, but I reckon they probably get a cut from those charges themselves, so they’re not exactly rushing to put a stop to it.

At around 2 in the afternoon, I was rudely awakened from a quick nap I'd been having before picking up my Grandson from school. I hadn't slept well the night before, so it really threw me off. The woman on the line had a strong accent, and aside from hearing my name, I struggled to catch what she was saying. For a moment, I honestly thought something was wrong with me, like I was having a stroke, especially with my heart pounding from the sudden interruption. When I asked why she was calling, she said something about offering better local services. I told her I wasn’t interested and ended the call. Even thirty minutes later, I was still feeling pretty shaken up from the whole ordeal!

My BT8500 handset just blocks those annoying calls all by itself (and no, you don’t have to have a BT landline for it to work). It stops any call from “Unknown” or “Overseas” numbers unless you’ve saved that number in your contacts first. Since using it, my daily spam calls have dropped from a couple every day to nada, not a single one. It keeps a record of the blocked calls, which I check and report every so often.

I got a call from what seemed like a market research company, but it was just a front for telemarketing. They told me they weren’t selling anything, yet they kept asking for details under the guise of some kind of neutral business survey. I gave them some info about pension plans, clearly saying I wasn’t interested in having my pension looked at. Sure enough, the very next day, I get another call about pensions from some bloke claiming I had given permission, but he wouldn't reveal where he got my details from. This outfit basically opens the door to loads of unwanted calls. They act like they’re not trying to flog anything, but I bet they pass your data onto other companies in those industries, who then ring you up saying you ‘opted in’, so technically it’s not cold calling at all. Caller ID was just 'unknown' too.

Got a call around half past six in the evening on 5th June 2015. The person wanted to talk to a woman, though the name they said was hard to catch. When I told the caller, who had what sounded like an Irish or maybe a Scottish Island accent, that they’d rung the wrong number, they started pushing, saying I was somehow responsible as the household bill payer - even though they had no clue who I was or where I lived. I asked the caller about their identity, what company they were from, and how they had managed to get my number since it’s unlisted, and then they just ended the call.

Every now and then this number tries ringing me, but luckily I have a feature on my BT phone called 'Call Guardian' - it's actually part of the phone itself, not directly from BT, linked to the answerphone setup. It catches calls from any numbers not saved in my contacts and makes them say who they are. If they don’t speak, the call gets cut off straight away. When they do say who it is, the phone rings properly and 'Call Guardian' asks if I want to take the call. I can choose to accept just this once, always accept, send it to answerphone, or block the caller. It’s dead easy and stops all the annoying calls coming through. I noticed this number tried to call and then hung up, which shows up in the call log. After seeing what others said about it here, I’ve added it to my block list now.

I’m really fed up with this company constantly ringing me. I’m a former director and have my number unlisted, yet they keep bothering me. Surely Ofcom should step in and make them stop calling when asked to? I’m planning to check with Ofcom about this soon because it’s getting ridiculous.

This number keeps ringing me over and over and honestly, it feels like harassment. They always want to speak to someone called Smith, which isn’t me at all. The person on the line says they’ll take me off ‘the list’ or ‘their records’. One time, I mentioned that the police might want to know about suspicious phone calls like this, and the calls stopped for a bit. But now, they’ve started up once more.

Spoke with an American accent, asked for someone but we couldnt really catch who, then went on about helping with energy tariffs. Quite irritating as we're on the TPS, but apparently you need the company name to report them.

They asked for my email and went on to get info about my house and address.

02036349842 called me on 25/05/15 around 8:04pm. They wanted to talk to me but since I was already on a call, I asked what it was about (heard a quiet reply). They asked again so I got a bit annoyed and asked what they were selling (a bit louder). Then she told me to calm down, which was a bad move! I told them to remove my number from their list. Now let's see if they actually do it.

I got a call about my energy supply, and I told them I’m on the TPS. They said they’d take my address off their calling list after that.

Got a call on a bank hol Monday at half 7 in the evening. Didn't pick up but figured I'd look the number up since it seemed odd to ring at that time.

Just like many have said, the TPS isn’t doing its job here.

She said it was some sort of business group but sounded like a total scam, so I wouldn't bother answering any of her questions.

Someone from this number rang me the other day. It sounded like an Afro Caribbean lady asking if I had health insurance or mortgage cover, and then she threw in a strange question about whether I’ve got central heating. I stayed courteous and answered without revealing anything personal, then that was the end of it. Guess I'll wait to see if they bother calling again.

This number has been ringing me daily for the last seven days. I finally picked up and a woman started asking all the same stuff others mentioned here. I couldn’t quite figure out who she was or what company she was with. She did say my voice was nice and between the questions, she kept wishing me happiness, health and luck. I decided not to answer any more of her questions, and she just said ‘Alright, bye’ and ended the call. I’ve since blocked the number.

I just got a ring from this number. A bloke said his name was Winston, but from his accent, if that really was his name, well, I’m a monkey’s mate. He said he wasn’t trying to sell anything, but asked me to verify my address. I told him to tell me where he thought I lived, and, no surprise, he got it wrong. That was the moment I ended the call. People like that barging into your life uninvited should be banned. My number’s on the list, so why do these calls keep coming? What’s the point of TPS registration? I was hoping it’d stop stuff like this, but it’s only getting worse.

I spoke to a woman who was quite abrupt and told me TPS has no power to block her calls since she wasn’t trying to sell anything, just carrying out a yearly household check.

This number has been buzzing me nonstop for the last week and today I finally picked up. On the line was a young lady from some company but honestly I couldn’t catch the name properly, she spoke really unclear. Without much introduction, she dived straight into what was clearly a survey, asking stuff like my age bracket and then said I sounded surprisingly young. Then she fired off questions about what newspapers I read, whether my car runs on diesel or petrol and so on. Oddly enough, every now and then she threw in wishes for my joy and good luck which felt kinda weird. After dragging on for around 5 minutes, I told her I wasn’t interested in answering any more and she just calmly said ‘Alright, bye’ and ended the call. Truth be told, no clue who she was calling from!

I got a call from a woman today who said she was conducting a house survey or something like that. She was really quite abrupt and didn't seem to care about the TPS list at all. Seemed like she wasn't trying to sell anything, just doing some sort of evaluation. Quite frustrating, really.

So, today I had a phone call from someone who spoke with a Caribbean accent, sounded like she was working in a call centre or summat. She asked me if I’d ever bought anything from Sainsburys and I said yes without really thinking about it, then all of a sudden she just disconnected the call!

This week alone I've had about six calls from them, but as soon as my voicemail picks up, they just drop the call.

This number has called me three times over the past few days. I never pick up and just let it go to voicemail. I’m on the TPS register, but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. Fingers crossed they stop calling soon!

This number just rang me up. A lady on the line called me by my full name and wanted me to verify my address, but I refused. She mentioned something like the 'Better Business Group,' though I wasn't quite sure. When I asked her what the call was about, she just ended the call right away. I've got my number on the TPS list, but clearly, it doesn't stop these sorts of calls from coming through.

I got a call from this number earlier. A woman with an Afro-Caribbean accent was asking for someone I didn’t know. When I said they had the wrong number, she then asked to speak to the person who pays the bill. After I told her I sort it out myself, she just hung up. Really weird sales tactic, if that’s what it was.

Received a call asking for Mr & Mrs (which is actually my wife’s maiden surname). When I asked who was calling, she said it was from some firm called Better Business. She insisted it wasn’t a sales pitch but wanted to know if we had central heating. I told her no one with that name lives here. Then she repeated my address and asked for my name. I told her if she’s not sure who she’s calling, why bother? She asked again then just ended the call! Caller ID showed nothing.

Today, 20/05/2015 around 16:43, I got a call from a woman using this number. She asked for me specifically and mentioned some company, but I didn’t catch the name. She then asked if I had TV through a SKY satellite dish, which I do, and read out my address - not sure how she knew that, maybe someone spotted the dish outside. She tried to be nice, saying I sounded young and guessed my age range, but I cut her off quickly with a “bye” and ended the call. Didn’t want to stick around and see what was going on. The caller said her name was Emily Johnson.

They mentioned it was a customer household survey but asked me for my maiden name, which is info from like five years ago. It was a lady with an American accent who said she wasn’t trying to sell anything, just doing surveys. She got a bit annoyed when I asked what company she was from and how she got my info.

Got a silent call that just dropped as soon as I answered. Didn’t share any of my info or anything. Proper frustrating, and since loads of folks must be in the same boat, why do the TPS or phone firms not do anything about it? I’m paying silly money every month to BT for my line, so what exactly am I getting? Come on, get a grip! At the very least, track down the number and see if they’re legit and following all the rules they’re supposed to.

Received a call around 5.30 p.m. someone asked for Mrs (my surname). I wanted to know who it was, but their reply was all mumbo jumbo, couldn’t really make out what they said, then suddenly the call just dropped like they pressed the wrong button or something. Seems they also tried ringing our landline yesterday, we got a message on the answerphone. The voice I heard sounded like a woman, with an American or maybe Asian accent.

Got a call on Saturday arvo, but the caller didn’t sound English. Asked for Mr Smith, but that’s not me! Claimed to be giving tips on saving cash on gas, electric, and phone bills and all that. I just kept him chatting until I could use the Call Blocker - job done, he’s blocked now. Tried ringing the number back on an old burner phone and got a recorded message saying “Activate Now”. To remove your number from their list, you’ve got to call a premium rate line. Classic! Here we go again with another scam and rip-off scheme!!!

Got a call from a lady with a West Indian accent, hard to catch what she was saying. She claimed she wasn’t trying to sell me anything (I’m ex-directory, opted out of the electoral roll and on the TPS). She asked if I was married, owned my home and if it had central heating. Then she wanted to call back in a few days. I said no, reminded her I’m on the TPS, and eventually she seemed to get it, said sorry and ended the call.
