When the phone rings from unknown numbers, I just ignore it. Never bothered to call back since many times, it turns out to be telemarketers or some annoying scam calls. It’s better to stay safe than waste time dealing with strangers on the phone. If it’s really important, they’ll leave a message or try another way to contact me.

My other half got a call from this number claiming to be from Legal & General insurance. They tried to chat about some benefits he could get. I told him I wasnt comfy talking about private stuff with a random caller, then he just ended the call. The voice sounded like maybe Asian. Seems like a proper scam to me.

A woman gave a name and said where she was calling from but I didn’t really catch it properly, only that it sounded a bit like a charity and ended with UK. She asked if I’d noticed the living costs going up. When I asked where she got my number, she said it came from my local supermarket and that some others nearby had also been picked to receive a £40 cost of living support payment.

They've been ringing me constantly for weeks, yet never bother to leave a message. When I finally picked up, I didn’t say yes to anything. This number rang my home today (6th April 2017) claiming I’d won a £50 Sainsbury’s voucher. They asked if I was Mrs XX, I said yes, then if I lived at XXX, I said yes again. Next they asked my age, I responded by asking who they were and what they wanted. They just hung up. From the comments, it looks like this number has been active since September 2015. How come they’re still pestering people after two years?? Does anyone actually look into these calls??

Got a call from this number not long ago, a lady with a bit of a foreign accent. She told me Tesco picked us to get a £50 voucher, which they’d send in a couple of days. I ended up saying YES to a few questions, even though I’d heard before not to do that. Wasn’t expecting a scam cause she already had our name and address.

They asked loads of questions, trying to get me to say yes. I heard about a U.S. scam where they do this, and if you say yes, they charge you later and have a recording of your voice agreeing. Just got a ring from this number, with a woman asking for me and my husband by name. When I asked who she was, she said she wasn’t selling anything and said sorry for troubling me, saying it’d only take a minute. She had an American accent and kept saying “ma’am” all the time. Then she started firing off loads of questions, which I didn’t answer. I told her I was signed up to the TPS and that the firm she was calling for was actually breaking the UK rules.

got a call this evening asking if i had central heating, i asked who they were from but the caller refused to say unless i told them my postcode! the number was 1471 so i called back with 141 to block my number, went straight to a voicemail thanking me for calling ‘activate now’. looks like they might use other closely related numbers too.

I just had the same call with those exact questions. They even asked if I was employed, whether I own a dog, the make of my TV and washing machine, and how long I’ve had them. I answered all their questions too, but now I’m feeling a bit uneasy about the whole thing.
