This number suddenly switched up, now saying they're some kind of live insurance verifier. Quite confusing!

Got a call from 01248205148, a bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be from the telephone preference service. He said he needed to upgrade my call blocking and somehow knew my name and where I lived. I asked for his contact number, and he gave me 02036300337. I told him I'd ring him back, and he just said, "you do that." In the end, I never bothered calling.

On the night of April 5th, I got a call from this number where first a lady and then a gentleman, both speaking with an Indian accent, tried to pitch some sort of lifetime upgrade for a phone preference service. They already seemed to know loads about me but wanted to confirm I was the actual account holder by asking for more info. Foolishly, I went along with it, but right after I contacted my bank and blocked my card. They left a contact number along with an email address: [email protected]. Even though I’ve informed my bank, this scam situation has been keeping me up at night.

Some bloke, sounded pretty young and Indian, rang up asking for my mum by her name. I told him I’d handle the call instead. When I asked who he was, he said his name was “Jason” or something like that? Then he started asking me to confirm if my mum’s bank card runs out in April. I told him I was tied up and would ring back later, and then he just went and hung up on me!

They said they could block scam calls and asked me for my bank info. Was definitely trying to pull a fast one.

I got a call like this too while trying to help my grandchild, so I was a bit distracted. They somehow had all my bank info and gave me the number 02036300337. When I called back, it turned out to be 01542658554. I'm planning to ring my bank’s fraud department to check if there’s anything unusual going on with my account.

Yeah, I’m with everyone else here. Got a call today from someone saying they were with the ‘telephone preference service’ or something like that, trying to verify my info. I asked them for some proof and they gave me that number, so I just ended the call and googled it straight away - surprise surprise, it was a scam. The number they rang me from was: 01905916745.

My father in law, who is 85, fell victim to a scam just like the ones mentioned here, and it’s really shaken him up. I contacted his bank and spoke to their fraud team, and they directed me to this site. I’m also curious if the number they said was customer service, 02036300337, actually costs callers anything when they ring to check if it’s a legit company?

I got a call from someone saying they were from BT's call blocking team. They mentioned a postcode that was way off from mine. Then they asked if I’d changed my address lately, which I haven’t. I wasn’t comfortable giving any details without a contact number to check their identity. They did provide a number, but I barely caught what he said and he kept pushing for my address and info. I told him to either send me an email or a letter explaining why they were calling.

Somebody called pretending they could block scam calls but then tried to sneak my bank info, even though they already knew a bit. I'm disabled and had to raise my voice just to get them off my back. Told them they were just as bad for keep phoning but they kept ringing 4 or 5 times, threatening to take £21.99 from my account. I might've given away small stuff like my postcode and mobile by accident, but it's definitely a scam. I saw other comments about numbers ending in 6 or 7 too. Planning to inform my bank about it tomorrow.

Like the others said, but things got heated when I suggested he might be scamming. He kept shouting and rang me back three more times, proper annoying.

On June 2nd, 2019, I got a call from a guy with an Indian accent who said he was Matt Dawson. He said I had to pay £21.99 to stop all those annoying nuisance calls forever. He asked for my bank details and even wanted to know if I was over 85. He gave me the phone number 0203-6300-337 to ring him back. Sounded dodgy to me.

I got a call from someone pretending to be from the Telephone Preference Service, and when I said I'd ring them back to check who they really were, they gave me this number to call: 01503 560665. I've seen loads of reports about calls from that number, but oddly it doesn’t appear on this site at all. I’m pretty sure it was a scam though, and that they wanted me to use that number. It might be a trick - the number might not even belong to the caller - or it could just be another piece of the con. Either way, watch out if you get a call like this.
