Similar to what someone else mentioned, I got called three times within 18 hours after I reported a problem with my phone line. The last person, who sounded Asian, was quite impolite and just hung up as soon as I told them I don’t share personal info on the phone. Isn’t it a bit too coincidental that I received a flurry of scam calls on my landline right after I reported an issue to British Telecom? It’s almost as if there’s some sort of connection between BT's overseas call centres and these dodgy callers! I had shared my mobile number as a backup with a BT online support agent while we sorted out my line problem, and wouldn’t you know it, I was inundated with scam calls about PPI in mere moments! Prior to that, my mobile had been blissfully untouched by such nonsense. Quite the remarkable turn of events, wouldn’t you say?

It's rather amusing, isn't it? Just after reporting a line issue to British Telecom, my home phone starts ringing off the hook with dodgy scam calls! Makes you wonder if some of their foreign call centre staff might just be moonlighting as scammers. My phone buzzed just before lunch today, around 11am. When I picked up, some guy with an Asian accent asked if I was Mrs ######. I said yes, and he claimed he was doing a consumer survey, then wanted me to give my full name and address plus postcode. I got a call at my workplace from this number. The woman on the other end insisted that I was having issues with my Windows software and warned that I needed to sort it out pronto, or risk damaging my hard drive. She said she was with "Windows" - which made me raise an eyebrow, since isn’t it Microsoft that handles such matters? Once I mentioned that the computer is a company device monitored by a professional IT team, she abruptly ended the call. It’s evident they’re fishing for unsuspecting home users who might fall for these sorts of tricks.

Some Asian bloke called me sayin there was an issue with my computer. When I asked him for the computer's ID, he couldn’t provide it. Totally a scam in my opinion. this bloke threatened me with a knife and said he knew where I lived when I called him out on his scam. I put my call blocker on and the calls stopped, which was a relief. I received a phone call from a woman who gave the impression of being in a call centre. She claimed to be contacting me on behalf of Windows, insisting that my computer was experiencing issues. She offered to sort it out for me. I responded by saying I’d take a look at my computer and would call her back if I deemed it essential. Just a heads up, folks! That series of digits, 020319881xx, has been flagged as a fraudulent Microsoft helpline. They’re basically just trying to extract your personal details or gain access to your computer. It's best to cut them off entirely. Don’t depend on do-not-call lists; instead, I recommend getting an app from this site for your smartphone (it works brilliantly on Android-I’ve got it on mine). It can block all those pesky nuisance calls and will simply notify you if a call has been intercepted. Simple as that!
