It appears that it’s always a chap named John who seems to be on the line - I did a bit of digging on the “Medical Alert Monitoring Centre” and came across numerous reports about calls claiming to be from this “Centre,” yet they all had different phone numbers. We’re registered with the TPS, so these calls should ideally be off-limits to us. Interestingly, someone from another of these dubious calls noted a delay after their inquiry, and I experienced the same thing. It feels like there’s some kind of automated system at play here. Clearly, it couldn’t or wouldn’t respond to a question when I brought up the term Cold Call; that’s when “John” abruptly hung up.
