I received a rather dodgy call from someone purporting to be from a medical centre, apparently named something akin to “Dorset Medical Centre”. They were inquiring about my mother-in-law's age and health details, which set off alarm bells. She refused to divulge any information, and the caller promptly ended the call. Just felt really fishy, so I’ve blocked the number.

It appears that it’s always a chap named John who seems to be on the line – I did a bit of digging on the “Medical Alert Monitoring Centre” and came across numerous reports about calls claiming to be from this “Centre,” yet they all had different phone numbers. We’re registered with the TPS, so these calls should ideally be off-limits to us. Interestingly, someone from another of these dubious calls noted a delay after their inquiry, and I experienced the same thing. It feels like there’s some kind of automated system at play here. Clearly, it couldn’t or wouldn’t respond to a question when I brought up the term Cold Call; that’s when “John” abruptly hung up.

They informed me that I qualified for a medical pendant and mentioned their collaboration with community organisations. Interestingly, prior to declaring my eligibility, they didn't have any information about my identity, age, or any other specifics.

So, John claimed I should be getting a medical alert pendant. I couldn't help but ask if that was due to the fact that one of my bits was dragged down to my knee and caused me agony every time it thumped against it! I just laughed and said cheerio! 🙂
