Got a call from 0191 516 1643 claiming to be EE, saying they wanted to thank me for being a loyal customer. They asked for my name, then told me I had no password on my account. I told them I did, but they insisted otherwise, so I just hung up. Right at the start, the guy said calls were recorded, which he reckoned meant I could call him names but he couldn’t do the same back. Proper cheeky.

Just had an upgrade with EE and then got a call from someone claiming to be from their service team. They offered a cheaper plan but said I’d need a new phone number and to send back my new handset. The guy was pretty pushy, like a usual sales person, which made me suspicious. Weirdly, I heard clapping in the background and it all felt dodgy. I rang EE straight away to let them know, since I’d already given my details. Feeling a bit daft for falling for it, but luckily they didn’t manage to get anything more from me!

This number has been blowing up my phone pretty much every day for a while now, and it shows up as maybe being a scam. I've flagged it as risky but it's also really annoying. This was an EE sales team number reaching out to existing clients. I requested they ring me back at a more convenient time, which they actually did, and I managed to verify who they were. They never asked for any private info and I was pretty firm during the chat, so I managed to stop the caller from pushing products I wasn’t interested in. I’ve been thinking about getting a new tablet since mine is ancient (one of the original iPads) and ended up with a decent offer without feeling pushed into anything.

I got a call from a woman with a Geordie accent using the number 0191 516 1643, claiming she was from EE. She said I qualified for special offers like an iPad and Apple Watch since I’ve apparently been a loyal customer with a good payment history. I wasn’t really up for chatting so I said I’d check my account later for any deals. She insisted those offers aren’t shown online and are only given through a ‘live call’, asking if she could ring me again at a better time. I told her I wasn’t interested as I’m always wary of these cold calls being scams. She didn’t argue, which was suspicious by itself. She sounded genuine enough and even used my name at the start, but the moment she said the offers wouldn’t show on my EE app, I knew it was dodgy. Definitely not EE.

Bit unsettling, to be honest.
