I got a call on my son’s mobile, which was quite irritating. They said they were from EE. But EE knows this phone is for my son only and to get in touch with me since the account is in my name. The lady sounded quite pushy and talked really fast, just like salespeople do! I had doubts they were legit. If I want to talk to EE, I’ll ring them myself. They’ve never called me before trying to sell cheaper SIMs or deals!

Avoid picking up any calls claiming to be from EE… It's a phone scam with the same trick again. Best thing is to just pop into an EE shop and sort your pay-as-you-go or contract deal in person only.

BANK SCAMS.. I’ve had calls where someone pretends to be from my bank saying there’s an issue with my card or account. They usually sound really official, trying to scare you by saying your card’s been copied or your money’s in danger... They’ll ask for your card details, account number, sometimes even your PIN, and might say they’ll send someone to pick up your card. They’ll also tell you to move your money to a ‘safe account’ to keep it secure. .. THIS IS A VERY COMMON SCAM and real banks would never ask you to do this.

They said they were from 'Saul Energy' and wanted to talk about how to lower my energy bills. Asked for my postcode so they could check what deals I might qualify for in my area. I told them my contract doesn’t end until July 2022 and asked them to take me off their list. They also mentioned the call would be recorded for training. Seriously?! 😳

They've been ringing me since March, but I never picked up till today. When I finally did, the person said, "Hello, is this Mr ?". I didn’t say anything back (though they knew my name). I asked how they were, and they replied by asking if I was Mr ?. I just wanted to know who they were and why they had my number. They said they were from EE and needed to speak to Mr ? about his account, insisting they knew I was the right person. I told them I’m Ian, not with EE, and definitely not Mr ?. Told them to stop calling. Then they started shouting about my account getting hacked and demanded my bank details to "stop the hack". I just had a laugh and said alright before hanging up. I’m not EE customer, so no account issues here. I’ve reported the number to 7726 scam service. Do the same if they ring you, report 'em!

This number rang me twice today, I missed the first call so looked it up here. When I answered the second time, they said they were from EE offering a 20% discount which felt odd since EE normally sends deals by text. They then said they were a firm called "rescue" working for EE, but when I asked about my GDPR rights regarding marketing from third parties, they couldn’t give a clear answer. I also asked for their website and they said they don’t have one. If anyone else gets calls like this, please report them on a site like this and to the ICO if possible. Definitely seems dodgy to me.

Someone said they were from EE, but it didn’t sound right cos the number wasn’t like their usual one, so I just ended the call. I got tricked once by a fake O2 call before (was really struggling moneywise and the idea of getting a sim with credit without paying upfront made me let my guard down) but I managed to sort it out before anything bad happened.
